Like Hops? You’ll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it’s about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

Can: Pencil shavings, grass, and pine on the nose. Crystal clear amber, thick yellow head, good lace. Pencil shaving flavor, tart and bitter overripe orange. Wheat bread crust finish. Tangy. Drinks like it isn’t the freshest it could be, hops are somewhat stale, but it’s still good.

09/02/2013 Can 50cl (thanks Theydon_Bois!). Ambrata viva, lievemente torbida, schiuma bianca abbastanza abbondante e persistente.

Can shared with David at De Struise shop in Brugge (Thanks to Bill for the trade) - 01/12/12. Lightly hazed amber with a thin tan head. Nose is caramel malt, pine, hops, light citrus tones. Taste follows, malty, piney, hops - extremely well balanced. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, fairly smooth, bitter finish. A great IPA !

Pint can from De Bierkoning. Clear amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of pine and citrus hops, light malts. Flavour is pine and spruce galore and those are not my favourites of the hop flavours, nice crispy malts, hint of caramel, firm bitter hoppy finish. Light-bodied, soft mouthfeel. Good, but there are way better IPA’s imho.

Can - thanks Mike B! Pours clear amber with a large creamy tan head and nice lacing. Aroma is all hops - pine and grapefruit. Flavor is pine, grapefruit with a note of caramel in the background. Bitter and very mildly sweet throughout, finish is medium bitter and lasting. Yum.

500mL can, pours a cloudy orangey amber with a medium beige head. Aroma of resinous and slightly spicy hops, and some butterscotch malts. Flavour of resinous hops, slight candied sugar, and slightly smoked malt to back. The smoked malt character shines through quite prominently, with a high astringency on the finish. Seems overrated to me - though solid IPA.

440 ml can courtesy of GT2. Thanks man! Pours tiny hazy deep amber with a creamy and frothy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving some sticky lacing on the glass. Smell is slightly sweet, very hoppy fresh and fruity with sweet bread, pine, overripe orange peal, grapefruit zest, resin, freshly cut grass, overripe green grapes, pineapple, overripe mango, cape gooseberries, peaches and hints of wet moss, moist wood and grapefruit juice. Taste is sweet, very bitter, fruity and herbal with bread, caramel, pine, grapefruit juice, grapefruit peal, orange peal, dry soil, fresh grass, unripe mango, unripe pineapple, lemon balm, dill, wet moss and grape zest. Mouthfeel is slightly round, slitly oily bitter, dry and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and bitter with dark bread, unripe pineapple, unripe mango, pine, resinous wood, moist soil and citrus peal.
