Like Hops? You’ll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it’s about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

Can from Mashmaster, thanks! Dark amber color. Oily hops and pineapple in the aroma. Piney and oily hops, challenged by tangerine and loads of pineapple. Long aftertaste. Excellent!

Draft at Surly event at Craft Brewed. Pours a clear golden copper color with a finger of foam that lingers. Light hoppy aroma with some citrus and caramel notes. Light on the palate, easily drinkable. Caramel and pine. Kind of underwhelming honestly. Medium to low bitterness.

I brought this as a souvenir to Japan and am glad my friend was generous enough to give me half. So good!

Deep, slightly reddish copper and peach coloured body with a two to three centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of fresh, but fairly low alpha acid hops with some citrus and light grasses around in the nose with some sweetness around as well. Medium-bodied; Pervasive bitterness from pine and grass with a lot of malt pungency along with some ligther and easy-to-drink flavours like grapefruit and pine with a nice balance of malt as well that definitely shows on the more pungent and bitter side of things. Aftertaste shows the punch from the hops with a smoother and more rational aftertaste with still a lot of one-sided nature and a bite from the alcohol around the edges. Overall, nice to sample and even though this is coming around the eges, definitely not a bad sample to have with perhaps more sweetness and sugars than the beer would typically have, sampled this twelve ounce can from Hy-Vee in Omaha, Nebraska purchased on 14-March-2018 for US$1,67 sampled at home in Washington on 02-April-2018.

16 oz can from a four pack. Dated 6/20/17, about a month and a half ago. Aroma is citrusy, floral, caramel. Pours hazy copper with a one finger beige head with good retention and some lace. Taste is medium to highly bitter, some candy sweetness, with flavors that match the aroma. Not bad, but I was expecting more.

Can from Andy’s Liquor in Rochester, MN back home in HK. Clearish red copper pour with dissipating head. Aroma is deep pine with some crisp green apple. Taste is very deep pine bitterness and lots of spicy biscuity malt. Sort of like a slightly flatter, but more spicy arrogant bastard. Good to try but probably wouldn’t get again.

Tap in Chicago. Aroma is pretty subdued of flower garden and citrus and faint sweet malt. Copper-golden clear with white head dusting and around the collar. Taste is restrained pine. Massive bitterness dominates. I’m missing the plot here on the high ranking.
