Yes, this is the beer you've heard so much about!
Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, World Wide Stout is dark, roasty and complex. This Ageable Ale clocks in at 15-20% ABV and has a depth more in line with a fine port than with a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer.
World Wide debuted in the winter of 1999, and the staying power of this brew is undeniable. Like Fort and 120 Minute IPA, World Wide Stout only gets better with age (more on aging beers here). After some time in your beer cellar, the heat of the booze fades into the background and the port notes and roastiness take over.
World Wide goes great with (or as!) dessert. Share one with someone you love.
Admin Note: This entry is for standard World Wide Stout that clocks in at 15% - 20% abv.

Bottle at tasting. Dark pour. Aroma of red fruit, subtle booze, port wine and some roast. Rich smooth taste of red fruit, warming booze, malt, subtle roast and a long finish. This is like a port wine beer. Very nice.

[notes 2006]

Bottle. 2005 vintage. Opaque black liquid with a reddish hue and minimal tan head. Aroma of port wine, raw sugar, toffee, sweet alcohol, light chocolate, licorice, light leather and dark fruit. Taste is medium to high sweet with notes of dried fruit, sweet alcohol, port wine and raw sugar. Full bodied with low carbonation. Nice!

Poured from a 2014 bottle into a teku glass showing it to be very light bodied, opaque black with a finger of latte brown foam. The nose shows a lot of dark roasted malts and coffee bean. A certain brightness in the aroma reminiscent of oak or wood. The palate is full bodied and somewhat oily with an aggressive carbonation. The alcohol is quickly apparent and very strong. The alcohol burn lasts the entire time on the palate. Unfortunately it dominates most of the tactile sensation making it hard to concentrate on the other dark flavors of the beer. These flavors are mostly roasted malts and some espresso flavors. I’d say give it at least 3-5 years to age - the alcohol is too strong and makes the beer too spicy to drink at this point.

Bottle by Cuso, thanks! 2005 bottle, aged for 9+ years, incredible! Aroma rich malty, warming, coffee, chocolate, raisins. Pitch colour. Taste can be described same as aroma. Quite warming. Very good and better yet when considering age.
