Intense, translucent hazy orange, good and pretty dense white head shows good retention and average lacing. Aroma is vividly yeasty with strong dough, quite strong banana, lighter refreshing frutiness (lemon, apple) and very light spiciness (clove). Taste notes more or less as per aroma. The beer is pretty sweet even for the style with the slightest hint of tartness bringing a bit of freshness. Finish was not very clean with a hint of sticky/sweet earthiness. Light to medium body with fine crispness, a very smooth lighter than usual carbonation, resulting in a very easy but still quite creamy mouthfeel. Probably a tad too sweet for my liking but overall fine.

Yummm! Outstanding traditional Hefeweizen beer. Aroma and flavor have that traditional spicy clove, banana, malt, sweet-tart, thirst quenching thang. Wish it was distributed around La Crosse, Wisconsin again.

wazig donker oranje/amber met geel/witte kraag. aroma van citrus, mout, banaan, zoet. smaken evenzo verder wat dun, matig zoet, zwakke banaan, redelijke co2, licht citrus, zoetzuur, vrij beperkt, matige body, niet buitengewoon. --- Beer merged from original tick of Maisel's Weisse Original on 23 May 2018 at 15:43 - Score: 6

Bottle at the Station Hotel, Ipswich. Poured a hazy pale orange colour with a small white head. Aroma of wheat, orange, yeast, lemon and banana. Medium sweetness, light bitterness and sourness. Medium body, thin texture, average carbonation. Thought it ok though didn’t realise at the time it was in style top 50.

27 December 2025. Van Hoefs Christmas tasting - cheers to all! Can from Mr. Hop.
A: hazy orange, stable, foamy, off-white head.
A: ripe banana, apple, wheat, clove, citrus zest.
T: sweet banana & apple, sourish wheat, clove.
F: floral hops, wheat, banana.
P: medium body, watery texture, average carbonation.
Less intense than I remember; also quite watery.
Original rating: 10/6/8/8/7=7.5. Better than, say, Erdinger, but not as good as a Paulaner.
