Released just once a year on our brewery's anniversary, this American wild ale is aged on whole Cabernet Sauvignon Grapes and Black Currants in Cabernet Sauvignon and Bourbon Oak Barrels.
One of our boldest, most dynamic beers, Cuvee de Tetreault expresses powerful vinous forward flavors of black currant, sour cherry, and cabernet fruit supplemented by hints of tobacco, vanilla, and a fleeting, light roast. An underlying tannic structure from the whole cabernet grapes adds complexity and balance to the fruitiness and acidity.
As the beer ages, the fruit character will gracefully evolve, opening up nuances provided by the grist, our native New England mixed culture and the select barrels. Cuvee de Tetreault is a celebratory beer, intended to be shared with friends and loved ones to commemorate life's milestones and achievements. Enjoy now or cellar over many years for further development.

6 oz pour on draft at Trillium Canton. Dark black with light pink head. Aromas of red wine, dark fruit. Tastes of red wine, berries, light tart notes, dark fruit. Light body with a dry finish.

Beautiful dark maroon-violet body shows great clarity and a big, chalky-purple head with moderate to moderately strong retention.
Smells highly aromatic from a mile away....ok this is going to be good I think. Closer up there’s plentiful grape and currant character with lots of wood, wine and black pepper. I do get some base malt underneath it, adding soft, creamy vanilla. Alcohol nicely concealed. Love the tannic character and seediness of the fruit. Very deep, complex nose that takes some work to unlock.
In the mouth it’s incredibly unique. Kind of melds aspects of porter, lambic, sour ales...Good maltiness, but dry. Soft texture and low but fairly tight carbonation. Not alcoholic. Very tannic and vinous. Difficult to get a handle on. Vanilla, black pepper, lots of grape, but not really grapey. Puckering, somewhat, on the finish. For all the barrels used, you can’t pinpoint one and it’s not over-barreled in the least, which is impressive given the amount of different barrels used.
Just a wacky, wacky beer, but quite nice. I could definitely see letting this sit for another year or two, though the dryness and relatively lighter, low-on-tannin body suggest it’s probably better to drink it sooner than later.

750 ml bottle shared by ClarkVV. Bottled on 10/28/2015. Thanks for the share. Color is a deep purple with pink bubbly head. Aroma is a metric ass load of red grapes, raspberry, currents, blueberries. Good amount of barrel is also noticed.
The flavor as a lot going on. The level of grapes and current runs deep. Bold grapes with a mild tannic oak with the alcohol completely hidden. The pucker hints the back of my tastes buds. Pretty massive pucker for me. Honestly, the barrel is not over the top considering the barrels the Brewer uses.

Poured from bottle thanks ClarkVV dated 10/28/15 deep purple ruby color with a nice tan head. Aromas of sour grapes dark red fruity jam mild funk and earth. Taste is tart jammy berry grape skin mild oak. Wow very complex flavors.
