Penn Quarter Porter was our first in a line of draft and 22oz bomber limited-release beers, and it’s a robust porter! In the way that The Public™ is on the line between a pale ale and an IPA, this warming brew tiptoes the line between a porter and a stout – perfect for the cooler months in DC, but at a crushable 5.5% this porter is great all year round.

30/12/2023. Can shared at CLBF. From Home Bargains, Martlesham Heath. Pours close to black with a small frothy tan coloured head. Great looking beer. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, caramel, ashy nutty edge. Medium sweetness and moderate roasted bitterness. Moderate body, light and creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Lacked some body but otherwise very nice.

330ml can. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a short-lived, frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasted malt, light toffee caramel. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter, light sweet, with a smooth, rich, roasty, smoky, light coffee, chocolate, liqourice bitter palate. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation.
