Hommelbier from Poperinge was brewed for the first time in 1981, for the triennial hop festival in the village. Hommel is local dialect for hops, and was the inspiration for the name of this tribute to Poperinge’s most famous export product. Since then, Poperinge’s Hommelbier has earned quite a reputation for itself with beer fans around the world, for its unique style, brewed with 100% hops from Poperinge.
Deze ‘Golden Ale’ heeft een stevige witte schuimkraag die uitnodigt om de geur van groene hop, gist en lichte fruittoetsen te ontdekken. Na een volle en verfrissende kruidige smaak verandert het pallet naar lichte citrus, sinaasappel en pompelmoes, ondersteund door de hop. De honingzachte afdronk laat een licht kruidige komijnsmaak uitlopen op een volle hopsmaak.

Pours a cloudy amber/gold with a nice head. Aroma of malt, yeast, flowery hops, some citrus. Flavour is fruity and bittersweet. Quite hoppy for a Belgian ale. Noticeable carbonation. Very fresh and easily drinkable. I consumed a lot of this on my first visit to Brugge, so it will always be a special beer to me.

Достаточно не типичный по вкусу Бельгийский эль.Пиво имеет большую шапку пены, слегка горчит. По вкусу чувствуется горечь с цитрусовыми нотками, включая апельсиновую цедру.

Small 250ml bottle from House of Trembling Madness. Pours a mostly clear golden amber with moderate sized white head, good lacing. Decent freshness in the aroma with sweet malts and a floral, hay and fruity peel hop. The body and mouthfeel is what elevates this beer being mid to full bodied with a soft near frothy carbonation. Its quite a herbal tasting beer, with mixed fruit peel and a long bitter dose in the finish with a reasonable sweet malt backing. There is so much good with this beer in terms of appearance, mouthfeel and balance that I want to give it a 4+ but taste wise its more of a 7/10 for me.

Appearance: Cloudy deep gold with pretty head. Aroma and taste: Lovely esters, apples & pears, spicy yeast, grass. Medium dry. Light plus ending bitterness. Mouth feel: Medium body, appropriate carbonation. Overall: good.

In der handlichen 0,74er Pulle - optisch klares Gold, ordentlich Perlung, Schaum passt. In der Nase hefig, leichte Frucht, im Trunk wieder schöne Hefe, angenehm warme Fruchtnoten, dazu Getreide, farmig, würzig, lecker.

Somehow I don't think I ever had this before. Ingredients don't list sugar but it definitely seems like it was bottle conditioned with sugar like many Belgian beers.

En copa teku, color amarillo ligeramente anaranjado, turbia, corona de espuma blanca bien conservada. Aroma a cereal, pan de molde, miel, lúpulo. En boca entra mostrando cierto dulzor malteado y amargor de lúpulo. Amargor agradable que perdura de principio a fin del trago y domina también el posgusto. Fresca, sabrosa y muy disfrutable. Muy rica
