Brewed with well water (the original well at the Old Brewery, sunk in 1758, is still in use, with the hard well water being drawn from 85 feet underground); best barley malt, yeast and aromatic hops; fermented in ‘stone Yorkshire squares’ to create a relatively dry ale with rich nutty colour and palate of beech nuts, almonds and walnuts.

33cl bottle. Brown colour with dense tan head, moderate lasting and nice lacing. Aroma is malty, sweet and with caramel hints. Flavour is slightly sweet, notes of dryed fruits are present, nuts and almonds. The final is smooth, with a slightly sweetness and bitterness in the aftertaste. Good balance. carbonation is flat to medium. Body is medum. Texture is medium to ouly.

550ml bottle from Pick’s poured into an English Pint. Pours a clear light brown with a minimal bit of head. Aroma of caramel malt. Taste is light bitter. Caramel with a bit of coffee and chocolate. Medium bodied with a thick and creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, very good. Much better than I remember.
