Not the most striking Stillwater I’ve had. aroma of flowers and booze. Pours dark brown with great lacing, ok head. Leave slightly astringent. Tap at Coles.

750 ml bottle. No bottle date what-so-ever. Paid $10.99 at Nature’s Way Market. Trappist glass shows a deep, dirty brown with some ruby hues when held up to light. Lots of carbonation. Aromas are herbal and pretty Earthy. Dry roast, molasses, chocolate and an herbal presence that I’m having a difficult time placing. Was this aged in a barrel or on wood chips? I get light wood nuances. Texture is dry and ashy. 7.4% is completely hidden throughout. After getting through half the bottle, I’m trying to figure out if this is a Dubbel, Belgain stout or black saison. No matter what style you define this as; it’s a fairly nice drinker.

750 ml. Deep brown body with ruby highlights. Huge, frothy beige head, fully lasting. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, tart cherry, brown sugar. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Dry finish with some tart, vinegary notes. Taste of roasted malts, nuts. The sweet malts give way to bitter hops which gives to way to taste of bitter chocolate, bitter roast and tartness.

Bottle. Creamy off-white excellent fully lasting head. Dark red amber colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Some nutty notes. Moderate bitter flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate. A bit disapointing.

Bottle: Poured a deep dark color ale with a large light brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and fruity ester with light funky notes is pretty unique and very interesting. Taste is also dominated by light roasted malt with some light funky ester and some what of a fruity and dry raisins finish. Body was quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very different and complex – almost like a mix between some element of a foreign stout and a farmhouse ale.

Flavor: The taste has Belgian-style yeast and spice, it is lightly sweet, and has a lightly bitter finish
Palate: This one is medium bodied, with a soft carbonation, a smooth, creamy feel, and a lightly dry finish
Overall Impression: This is a decent Belgian-style offering, but it isn't a standout. It certainly feels well-made, but it just isn't really all that exciting...

Draft at World of Beer Arlington. Poured a deep, dark brown color with a light tan head. Aroma had plenty notes of chocolate, some spices, a few sweet berry fruits, some dark dried fruits as well. Flavor is sweet, with some berries, fruits, chocolate, and a touch of hops. Reminds me a bit of a porter with some farmhouse notes. Pretty darn good.

02/08/2012 Ma che siete venuti a fà (tap). Bruna, impenetrabile, schiuma bianca abbondante e abbastanza persistente. Al naso aroma di malto tostati, lieviti, spezie, bretta, molto complessa. In bocca ha un attacco di malti tostati, quindi note fortemente speziate, lievemente acide, con un finale di liquirizia e rabarbaro leggermente astringente. Corpo medio, carbonazione corretta. Confusionaria, deludente.
