The 3-Grid IPA is our flagship ale. This India Pale Ale’s citrus notes are created by Chinook, Cascade, Columbus and Amarillo hops from Yakima Valley, making it a true Northwest-style crowd pleaser. The alchemists at Schooner EXACT balance the hoppiness with a hint of malt, making this IPA one that pleases the staunchest of hopheads as well as the microbrew newbie.

Bottle from Haggen’s Grocery, Burlington
Hazy amber color, bright, with generous head. Very nice aroma, fruity, sweet orange peel. Lean mouthfeel, on the dry side, but soft on the tongue; mild caramel flavor, that lets the hops appear quite freely.
Very clean, good old school IPA.

Sampler at brewpub. Lightly citrus bit more grassy weedy in flavor. Very light and clean. Low bitterness. Fine enough stuff, could drink again but wont seek out.

Bottle thanks to Sarah! Pours a near clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has notes of bitter citrus and light grass with a light grain backbone. Flavor has notes of earthy citrus and grass with a grain backbone.

Bottle @ Jon’s place on the 4th. Pours a bit hazy golden orange appearance with a lasting white head. A lot of caramel and bread in the nose. Dull grapefruit and herbal hops. Fairly burger. Nutty, toasted bready flavor. Slightly oxidized. Dull citrus. Not that great.

Golden amber color with frothy white head. a touch of caramel, pine and touch of wood in the nose. Decent backbone, but very hop forward without being too aggressive. very drinkable and approachable IPA. Not huge depth, but well executed IPA.

Pours clear medium yellow with a generous off-white head. Big pine resin hop aroma. The flavor is well balanced between big juicy malts and big hop bitterness and flavor. Really liked this one!

Sample at the brewpub. Pours a clear golden-amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, grapefruit and malt. Medium-bodied with a moderately bitter hops character and notes of citrus and sweet malt. The finish is hoppy with a citrus and pine aftertaste. Decent overall.

One liter bottle that suggests growler. This from Malt & Vine. Pours hazy light amber with a frothy 2 finger off-white head. We’re talking NW IPA here. Aroma of citrus over mild roast caramel. Med+ body. Flavor starts malty, but the hop (I think both citrus and resin) sort of knocks the malt out of consideration. It is marvelously bitter. It may not be the most bitter NW IPA ever, but if that’s what you want, well, this should be in the top ten(for now). Wow, but this is damn good ale.

Bottle, pours hazy golden orange with a big white head. Aroma is quite piney, with caramel, grapefruit and citrus hops. Flavour matches this almost exactly, with very pronounced piney flavours. Very well done.
