This beerโs best moment is when itโs poured from the can and slowly transforms from opaque cloud to a lovely, clear amber colour. Four out of five for the appearance and four out of ten for the taste about sums Kilkenny up for me. When vigorously provoked, the beer gives off some caramel and honey aromas, and when drunk it feels as thin as water before developing a creamy mouthfeel with quite a bit of malt and a slight hoppy bitterness at the end.

0.4l can @ Bergen Airport. Clear caramel-brown with a really creamy off-white head. Smells light sweet, mild ashy, some faint fruity tones. Not horrible, but not fantastic. It's soft on the carbonation and it has a mild oily mouthfeel. Light sweet caramel flavors also, some faint cigarette tones with a soft bitter and quite smooth finish and a flour-ish both semi dry aftertaste and really watery and thin. Easy drinking, but flavor wise this has never been a favorite of mine. Nor this time. 05.08.2012

Draught can technology pours beautiful silky, thick head. Beer is orange/amber, but taste is overly weak, slightly bitter. Light on the palate with no aftertaste.

Poured from tap into a Kilkenny glass at the Kings Head pub in Galway, Eire - Jan โ12. Coppery-light brown in colour with a small white head. Sweet aroma on the nose but not a great deal going on other than a little malt and sugar. Tastewise verges on a sweet but a (and certainly not rich in this respect) caramel flavour is present and a very faint bubblegum taste. Not a lot of bitterness if any? - an easy drinking beer if you wish! A creamy mouthfeel and drinking experience to boot with little carbonation.

Can at home. Has a clear dark brown colour with a medium and pretty compact white head. Lots of wood in the aroma with leather, chocolate, cinnamon and berries. Much of the same in the flavour but with more roast. Very soft and smooth mouth feel, a bit thin. Light bitterness. An easy-drinking and okay ale.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Coop. Ruby with a thick white head. Aroma of lightly roasted malts. Light bitter aftertaste. Decent ale and for sure a good thirst quencher.
