Unusually light, agile, yet complex, Unicorn hasn’t changed in over a hundred years. It was originally brewed by Frederic for his father William, at the Unicorn Inn, from where the beer eventually took its name, and where the Robinsons Brewery still stands. Dripping with heritage, it’s a magnificent, thirst-quenching, thoroughbred bitter. The first of a bloodline that continues to this day.

Bottle, 0.5l. Deep copper pour, half finger soapy off-white head, short lasting. Minimal lacing on the glass. Herbal nose, grassy, earthy. Mild caramel in the background. Thin body, medium to high carbonation, quite lively. Lightweight mouthfeel and texture, refreshingly fizzy. Bitter taste combined with subtle caramel sweetness and touch of fruit tart. Aroma of caramel malt, lightly toasted, bread, grass and herbs. Some fruity hop notes, lingering bitterness, a bit dry. Metallic notes here and there. Medium lasting finish. Solid bitter.

0,5 bottle. Perfectly golden yellow color, nice clear transparent, strong, durable off-white foam. In the background, fruity, mainly yeasty, and at the same time hop-malt, a perfect beer aroma. It’s a little sour to start with, and then the Golding hops are felt. Despite the degree of alcohol, it is full-bodied, tasty, very good for drinking great bitter. For me, the pickle was what spoiled me a little, but I would love to drink it anytime.

Tökéletesen aranysárga szín, szép tiszta átlátszó, erős, tartós piszkosfehér hab. Háttérben gyümölcsös, főként élesztős, és egyben komlós-malátás, tökéletes sörillat. Indításnak kicsit savanykás, aztán a Golding komló kiérződik. Alkohol foka ellenére testes, ízletes, nagyon jó iható remek bitter. Nekem a savanyúság volt az, ami egy icipicit lerontotta, de bármikor szívesen innám..

Bottle at home from Morrisons. A good pour into the tankard and an aroma of malt and some bitter hops. The taste was the same, but with the balance nicely tipped towards the malt. This was a thoroughly tasty and smooth golden ale and I really enjoyed it.
