An oxymoronic 'Imperial Mild' - A redux to remember the '05 St. Paddy's Day Massacre. Defiant as to style ... The brewer can say for sure it is unforgiven and unrepentant.

Bottle pour into pub glass from Greg & Jane's Beer and Wine. Appearance is honey-brown, overall hazy (clear brown with large white particulates), trace sparkle at the edge of the glass, finger-width fizzy beige head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is bread, caramel and milder candied sugar, light citrus. Taste is caramel/toffee with alcohol astringent bite, late bitter resin/pine. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with thick, viscous, frothy texture, soft carbonation and sweet, malty with alcohol and late bitter finish. Overall, alcohol is too present; enough hops to keep it from being too sweet.

Tasty dank bomb from Lagunitas, boozy and sweet but with a considerable herbal hop bitterness, tossing in some classic orange marmalade notes amid all the earthy, weedy hops. Spicy, piney, grassy...pretty diverse hop profile, shored up by a hefty, thick caramel malt base. A little warm and sharp around the edges, but lordy is it pretty, and the minty herbal earthiness of the hops makes for a lovely bouquet. Chunky, tasty pint.

Tap at the Ørsted Ølbar, Copenhagen. Poured a clear copper colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is malt, woody resin hop, tropical fruit. The flavour is moderate sweet light bitter with a rich woody resin fruity hop bitter dry spice, light alcohol palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle. Clear brown with an inch of cream head that fades to a cm. Aroma of bread crusts, boiled grapefruit, bottled cherries. Not much body, moderate carbonation. Malty but not all that sweet, bitterness is highish and certainly thunders through. Balance is more pleasing after a time - perhaps that’s the booze, although it’s not very overt for close to 10%. More fruity (cherries, mixed peel) than bready. Pine and some herbal notes at the end. Strange beer that grew on me - a bit old fashioned bottled English strong ale complete with boiled notes but still very American.
