Our Fathom India Pale Lager combines time-honored lagering techniques with the hop profiles of a West Coast IPA recipe. The cold-fermenting lager yeast provides a clean base that allows the citrus and pine aromas from the hops to really shine. The result is a gold medal beer with a refreshing, easy drinking character and just the right amount of depth.

Bottle. Pours crystal clear orange amber with a medium off-white puffy creamy head that slowly dissipates leaving a ton of lacing on the glass. Aroma is IPA - citrus, grapefruit, pine, perhaps muted as compared to the best IPAs, some graininess underneath. Flavor is very hop forward, light sweet, light bitter, nice fading bitter finish. No real graininess present in the flavor. Medium light body. A nice and refreshing beer.

On draught at Harry’s Hofbrau. Pronounced aroma of citrus and melon. Some passion fruit and a sweet malt. Clear pale gold with a white head that collars. Flavor of orange and bready malt with a very dry finish. Finish is more astringent than lager crisp. Massive bitterness and some pronounced juice left to wring from the tongue.

(17 avril 2013)

Draft pour at Proletariat in New York. The pour is golden copper with a smallish white head. The aroma is lightly sweet malt, along with citrus, floral and pine hops. The taste is more hop forward then the nose, coming right away with resin floral pine hops, mildly sweet citrus, and then moves towards the clean biscuit malt flavors. The finish is resin, bitter hops. The palate is light to medium bodied, active carbonation, and the dry resin after taste. Easy drinking beer, well executed to style.

Draught at McLoughlin’s. Dark gold with a nice foamy head. Grassy, citrus hop aroma, very ale like and very floral. Smooth pale malt flavor, with bit hops. A bit of pils-like biscuit malt flavor, and ale yeast taste. Just enough to remind you it is a lager. Smooth mouth, mellow and round. Huge bitter hop finish. Very interesting and well done.
