It all started with an epic video game marathon back in 2004.
Rocking blaze-orange homebrew, we saw the foam rings down the glass like tiger stripes. Thousands of batches and tweaks later, the BENGALI still slashes. Tip it back and let gravity do the work. Game on!
Bengali is that go-to IPA you want by the pint. Big tropical hop character up front, super clean, with a dryness on the back end that leaves you wanting more.
Key Ingredients Flaked oats provide a silky texture, while Mandarina Bavaria and Amarillo hops give the beer a huge slash of citrus aroma, without lingering bitterness.
Admin Note: Formerly known as Bengali Tiger

Can at the Old Swan Inne (JDW), Evesham. Had thoroughly enjoyed the version of this beer made at Adnams, and also their Sweet Action beer, so was looking forward to this. It poured light amber with a large off-white head and a light fizz. Light peach and pine smell- less strong aroma than I’d expect from a modern IPA. The initial taste is rather metallic, although with further tasting the metal does subside. It’s as bitter as you’d expect, but as with the aroma the flavours are rather subdued- pine, grapefruit and peach struggle through in a rather half-hearted manner. The mouthfeel is a little thin too. It’s drinkable, yes, it’s OK, but it’s very disappointing.

Golden colour. Some citrusy hop tones try to break through the oily, piney resinous aroma. Quite syrupy, oily, bitter. Lots of bitter citrus peel. There’s a nice background malty flavour but it’s a bit overpowered from the strong piney bitterness.

Can. Nose of biscuity malt, orange, tropical fruits, grass. Orange-golden color with a frothy head. Sweet in the front, citrus, biscuits, tropical fruits, then very bitter. A bit heavy. Good.

Can from a mix 6-pack from Binny’s South Loop. Served on a plastic pilsner glass. A deep gold with a big fluffy head. It has a really nice nose of fruity hops. The taste is sweet at first then mellows into a solid clean bitterness. Not so exciting but a well made IPA nevertheless.

Can from Royal Hop Pole Twekesbury. Deep golden colour with thick white head. Aroma has plenty of hops and so does the taste. It has some bite, and is maybe a touch to sharp for my taste.

Can @ Wetherspoons Brighton. Hazy orange color, medium sized off-white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, a bit old hops, lightly fruity. Taste malts, lightly hops, fruity, quite bitter. Decent but not great.

Drought. Hazy pale yellow with large creamy off-white head, floral hops aroma, low carbonation, well balanced hoppy taste with lavender like flavor, medium finish. Very nice IPA.

Can at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol July 2014. Deep amber with a big, frothy, off-white head. Citrus hops, sweet caramel, dense malts and a dryish finish. Good.
