It all started with an epic video game marathon back in 2004.

Rocking blaze-orange homebrew, we saw the foam rings down the glass like tiger stripes. Thousands of batches and tweaks later, the BENGALI still slashes. Tip it back and let gravity do the work. Game on!

Bengali is that go-to IPA you want by the pint. Big tropical hop character up front, super clean, with a dryness on the back end that leaves you wanting more.

Key Ingredients Flaked oats provide a silky texture, while Mandarina Bavaria and Amarillo hops give the beer a huge slash of citrus aroma, without lingering bitterness.

16oz can poured into a shaker. Pours a cloudy dark orange with a half finger of white head. Aroma of citrus and pine resin. Taste is light bitter, follows aroma. Light bodied with a thin texture, lively carbonation and a long, lasting finish. Pretty good.

Can from Wetherspoon’s, Edinburgh airport. Clear golden body with a massive off-white head. Very lively carbonation. Nice lacing. Aroma of earth, orange, honey and fresh green hops. Flavour of blood orange, pine and caramel. Medium body with a very oily texture. Fizzy carbonation. Very hoppy but a bit too malt sweet for my liking.

Takeaway can bought at Wetherspoons. Cloudy amber with a very thin head. Has plenty of fruit in its nose and flavour. A tad sour in the palate but remains very tasty.

Can in the Llandudno Spoon’s on 11th June 2014: no new cask beers for me, so defaulted to the first of the three cans Sixpoint have being pushed by Wetherspoons. Slight haze to my pale amber pour, the head tried to hang around, but failed after less than a minute. The nose was both yeast and hop laden with malts just about getting a look in. Taste wise it’s the hops that lead the way with a yeastiness within the flavourings. Pleasant and not as bitter as I expected.

355ml can @ The Crown Rivers, LHR Terminal 5

BBE 03/2015 - Pours orange with a smooth sticky head. Aroma of resinous hops, grass, caramely malts, citrus and pine. Taste is resinous hoppy, grassy and malty with some citrus, pine and caramel. Finish is crisp and bitter with some resinous notes. Okay IPA, could be slightly better from a fresh can.

355ml can at JDW in Wrexham (the one nearest the football ground) - Golden orange body with a frothy white head. Aroma is quite hoppy with notes of citrus, pine, herbal notes and resin along with some sweet malt. The flavour follows the same direction as the aroma, fairly bitter with a nice hop profile, lots of citrus, some sour orange, pine, resin and the herbal notes backed by a sweet malt backbone. Nice dry mouthfeel, with a clean crisp finish. Very good.
