Draught at Toronado, San Francisco. A darkish reddy brown affair with a good sized off white head. Resinous piney hop aplenty in the nose, mingling with some sweet malts. Sweetish flavour with some nice fruity notes and great hop bitterness mingled with the malt and rye aspects. Definitely more of an intriguing character than the Racer on the whole. Interesting and enjoyable stuff. Dug it.

22oz bottle from BevMo
Appearance: Clear dark amber with a nice sized creamy off-white head and a good amount of lacing
Aroma: Sweet grapefruit, rye and citrus
Taste: Malty, rye and pine resin
A very nice, well balanced beer. Lots of malt to balance out the hops. I like this every chance I get to drink it. Can’t believe I didn’t rate this before now.

Clear copper with a modest beige head. Aroma of toffee, bread crusts, pine, pink grapefruit. Taste has stone fruits as well as caramel and some nuts - it’s quite fruity but not that sweet. Round rather than sharp aromatics accompany the bitter finish. There’s a little detergent there too which I’m sure is not due to my glass washing. The malt side of things is substantial but still quite light. Good balance for this sort of thing, not over-flavoured.

Tap at Beer, Bourbon and BBQ Festival in NYC. Pours hazy amber with a medium, off-white head. Big hop aroma with ponounced grapefruit notes. Flavor is sweet and fruity, with powerful bitterness. Medium to full in body with average carbonation. Finishes fairly sweet but overpowered by the hops, which linger fruitily for some time. Excellent beer.

cheers to tpa975 for the share. amber, off white head. aroma, lots of hops spices, citrus hop nose with a nice hop/rye balance. flavors, thick mouthfeel, citrus and rye, silky palate, caramel malts with a light lingering bitter finish. Warming abv with just the perfect balance. Drink nicely, a nice beer to have side by side with Terrapin’s lower abv of Rye Pale.

Clear brown color with a large tan head. Aroma of rye bread (no kidding) and earthy malts. Flavor begins with malt, hops come in half way through, and rye bread returns in the finish. Interesting.
