Bottle, 12 oz. (or 35 cl. in the more developed countries...) from the amazing Kihoskh, Copenhagen. Very dark colour for an IIPA - dark amber with a off-white head, with a nice laceing. Powerful aroma with chocolate, citrus and grass - uhmmm.. good. Medium to heavy bitterness with some sweet notes of chocolate. Medium body with a creamy texture. Long lasting, complex finish with bitter notes of fruits like grape and citrus also some bittersweet chocolate. A very, very good beer, but no trace of the rye, accept for the very dark colour?

Pours a darker, reddish-brown, almost coppery hue, with a fair to mid-sized head.Some sweet caramel, licorice and roasted grain in the aroma and flavor, along with hints of hop bitterness. Nice smooth, sweet finish. I quite liked this one.

Pours dark orange with a nice foamy head. Aroma has notes of hops, lats and rye. Taste is quite bitter with hints of malts, hops, fruits and rye. Long lasting, bitter finish. Quite good, not as sweet as many IIPAs.

Hazy brown beer with a reasonable biscuit coloured head. A dry palate but not overdone. Flavour is a lovely mix of rye aromatics and spice and piney citrus hops that also have a sweet note. Finishes on the sweet hop note. Very well joined up beer.

Hopfig-malziger Antrunk, wenig süß, malziger werdend. Leicht getreidig, der Hopfen, welcher im Mittelteil abnimmt bleibt nun konstant. Etwas dunkelmalziger Abgang, deutlich weniger malzig, interessant. Danke an den Doppelbock für das Bier! 13/12/11/12/9/12

12 oz bottle into tulip. Pours a hazy reddish hue with lots of sediment. Has a small beige head that falls quickly, leaving a thin collar of foam. Aroma is fruity, perfumy, floral (roses come to mind) = fragrant! Taste is bittersweet. Very different for a DIPA. Tasty. Highly carbonated for the style, but that doesn’t detract from the sheer brilliance of this beer. Body is very full. Delicious.

The nose of this beast is pretty epic; not a masterpiece, but there’s a lot going on: big swath of citrus and pine coupled with a cat-pee tang of rye, or hops, or both. The flavor, though, isn’t as huge. Lots of caramel-ish malt, with a long, drawn-out hoppy finish, yet the rye comes off muted. Still, as a DIPA, this beer rocks, even if the rye never leaves a mark like you want. (10/08)

Sampled on draft at the Rivertowne Pub this beer poured a very hazy brown color with a medium sized foamy tan head that lingered and produced good lacing. The aroma was strong grapefruit with light notes of lemon and pine. The flavor was biter, tart and tangy with a strong grapefruit presence and light notes of lemon, pine and caramel. The finish was long with lingering grapefruit and pine. Fairly full bodied. Solid.

Pours dark copper with a large creamy head.Nose shows pine, resin and grapefruit in large quantities with supporting sweet crystal malt alongside.Very similar flavours, but with a toasty character joining in. Finishes with a massive grapefruit-tinged bitterness. Pretty full-on.Carbonation is a little high.Finishes too dry and bitter in my opinion, and there’s not enough going on in the way of hoppy flavours.

Review from notes, sampled 1/27/2008 22oz bottle poured into a Sam Adams glass Pours a beautiful dark copper with a fluffy head that never totally disappears. Aroma is Grapefruit, Pine and some sweet and caramel malt in the background. Taste hits with the citrus and pine and lingers long after each sip. There’s a bit of bite from the rye somewhere in the middle. Medium body lots of lacing. Nice IPA.
