Nose is loaded with Belgian yeast character of banana and clove with an equally fruity body balanced with a light, earthy hop character. Savor notes of orange and spice followed by a dry finish.

Bottle from Mitsuya. Pours a clearish gold with a finger of foam that dissipates fairly quickly. Faint honey aromas with grass, light booze and cloves. Sweet on the palate with tons of clover honey. Not sticky, but borderline cloying. More honey towards the finish with clove, nutmeg and peppercorns. Not bad, but completely sugary and missing the nuance that the Belgians nail. --- Beer merged from original tick of Victory Golden Monkey on 29 Aug 2016 at 22:31 - Score: 7. Original review text: 1 year aged. Light booze, honey and grass on the nose. Big clover honey notes on the palate. Sweet with some clove and nutmeg in the finish.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.5%. Golden colour, huge white head. Sweetish aroma of white kandij sugar syrup, newmown grass, herbs and mild spices. Medium sweet and yeasty flavour, again with notes of white kandij sugar, also fairly distinct notes of black and white peppercorn, noticeable hops in the finish. Not a bad beer, but a bit too sugary.

Keg at BD Sheps, 09/06/16. Clear golden with a decent off White head. Nose is candied fruit peel, cantaloupe melon, sweet malt, yeast esters, tangerine. Taste comprises light caramel, pinch of white pepper, candyfloss, Belgium yeast esters, tangy citric, light hopping, bubblegum. Medium + body, fine carbonation, light rising alcohol in the close. Solid for style ... never too sweet or cloying ... well worthy of its top 50 style status .... One of a few of this ilk I would happily return to!

Bottle. Clear golden yellow with large foamy off-white head, vanilla aroma, high carbonation, slightly sweet taste with typical Belgian yeast characteristics, smooth body, medium bitter finish. Very smooth and satisfying.

12oz can from O’Shea’s, Laguna Niguel. Broached on 9th May 2016 on my daughters patio. Mini haze to the body, the head a wispy minimal white affair. Boozy and Belgian in that order, really liked it.
