December 2009 saw the birth of our Winterkoninske Grand Cru, a strong dark beer to enjoy with moderation. The use of different dark malts results in tones of chocolate, coffee and sherry. This makes it a perfect match for game dishes and chocolate desserts. The strongest winter beer of Limburg.

Taster at Bittercreek. Dark brown pour, wispy head, streaky lacing. Malty, woody aroma, fruity, sour notes. Taste adds in the Belgian yeast, sweet and tart, plums, and an incredible glowing warmth. Really nice melange here

Corked bottle. Almost black. Dried fruit, malt, milk and some roast in the aroma. Full bodied. Thick mouthfeel. Sweet with raisin, dried fruit, sart tartness, roast. Dried tropical fruit in the aftertaste. Some brandy notes, other than that the alcohol is hardly noticed.

Frothy beige head left a creamy cover on a very dark brown still body - looks impressive. Massive aroma of spiced fruit, dates, licorice, booze & mulled wine. Full bodied, thick, chewy, soft on the palate & spritely on the back. This is so thick, it's like having a meal! The sweet taste is the as big as the aroma with heavily spiced fruit, pepper, aniseed, alcohol, jam & an almost medicinal tasting long finish. This is a huge complex beer, a real fireside sipper.
