Belgian-style farmhouse saison

Inspired by the traditional rustic brews of Belgium, our iconic American farmhouse saison is charmingly complex but eminently drinkable.

Artfully spiced with coriander, ginger, orange peel and grains of paradise, its champagne-like effervescence leads to a crisp, dry finish, delighting discerning drinkers everywhere.

While delicious on its own, Hennepin pairs remarkably well with a variety of foods, complementing shellfish, barbecue, cheeses, charcuterie, and a wide range of spicy fare.

On tap in pint glass at Cask and Vine. Appearance is hazy-to-cloudy light yellow without sparkle, finger-width white head without lacing. Aroma is Belgian yeast, fruity esters. Taste is nice fruity esters, Belgian yeast with some citrus. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, soft carbonation and finish like taste. Overall, a solid representation of the style.

355ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden with a huge, frothy, long lasting, white head that laces. Fruity, hoppy aroma with citrus, yeast, coriander and alcohol. Sweet, hoppy, citrus flavour of orange peel with yeast, coriander, honey and a hint of alcohol, ending on a slightly tart, dry, bitter note. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Not bad.

4-pack at the LCBO with 7.7% ABV. Pours a cloudy golden colour with some nice tiny particles in the bottom of the glass. The head is fluffy, white, decent lasting and foamy lacing. Orange nose with some Belgian Ale yeast. Same for the taste with decent mild hops in the finish with hints of grass. Nice and smooth saison that goes down easily with lots of citrus.

Bottle at home. It pours cloudy golden with a decent fluffy white head. The nose is soft, doughy, cereal, fruity, spicy action, herbal, grassy, nougat, banana, orange rind, brioche and toasty grain. The taste is smooth, doughy, crisp grassy bitterness, spice, ripe banana, apple, pear drops, some alcohol boost, orange peel and toasty grain with a dry, spicy finish. Medium body and moderate-high foamy carbonation. True to style and could easily pass for a Belgian creation. Tasty.
