Belgian-style farmhouse saison
Inspired by the traditional rustic brews of Belgium, our iconic American farmhouse saison is charmingly complex but eminently drinkable.
Artfully spiced with coriander, ginger, orange peel and grains of paradise, its champagne-like effervescence leads to a crisp, dry finish, delighting discerning drinkers everywhere.

Bottle at home from Bottle shop Canterbury split with Sarah. Translucent yellow straw colour with a big ol’ lively white head. Aroma is nice saison yeast, wheat, camomile, orange and spices. Flavour is doughy wheat, orange , light spices. Palate is effervesceny , light and refreshing. Decent saison, not as good as some Partizan grisettes.

Bottle from Stirchley wines via SarkyNorthener; hazy golden yellow pour with a thin beige head, lemon and yeast aroma, taste had lemon yeast and a hint of spice.

I realized the other day I hadn’t rated this beer. Which is nuts because it’s one of my absolute everyday favourites (not that I can get it in Ontario anymore. Thanks LCBO, you suck.) So I figured I’d hit 100 with a great beer. Pours a cloudy golden, with a couple foamy fingers of white head, that settles down to a thick sheet with lacing. It’s the smell of this beer that gets it all going. It’s that lovely Belgian yeast that Ommegang seems to have as it’s hallmark. It’s lemon and bread and cereal. Mmmmm. The taste isn’t overwhelming, yet full of flavour. Yeasty, citrus, coriander with a mild spicy/acidic bit in there. Really, really well-crafted beer.

Bottle from Microbar, Manchester. Hazy gold pour with a white head. Sweet spice and vanilla aroma with notes of caramel and wheat. Sweet spice flavour, splash of lime in there too. Fruity-dry action. Dry finish.

On tap at Hungry Brew Hops. Pale orange yellow pour with small white head. Nose is yeast and spice. Sweet and spicy. But morre subtle than the nose. Light mouth with average carbonation.

Bottle. A- Herbs, floral, citrus, wheat. A- Pale yellow color, clear liquid, white head. T- Citrus, very floral, medium sweetness, slightly hoppy, herby. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, dry crisp finish. O- Not a normal saison. Lots of citrus and floral notes. Almost champagne like. A good beer just unusual for the style.
