A truly authentic Belgian style wheat or "white" ale, this Rascal is unfiltered and cleverly spiced with coriander and Curacao orange peel producing a refreshingly classic ale.

12 oz. can, pours a hazy yellow with a thick, lingering white head. Light nose of wheat, citrus, banana, orange peel and coriander. Flavour brings out the orange peel at the beginning, with the coriander kicking in next, leaving a citrusy, orangey finish. Very pleasant beer for a hot day.

Fairly weak Wit from the usually reliable Avery. Looks terrible, pouring a thin hazy yellow with a head that up, up, and aways quite fast. Smells better, a traditional mix of Belgian spice and yeast and hefe-ish wheat. But the taste is uninspired, treading too closely to sweetness, with a whole lot of orange flavor bouncing around underneath. The watery feel doesn’t help, and the bland finish makes for very dull beer. Still ten times better than Shock Top, though.

0.355l bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours a strange watery lemonade-like body with no head. Extreme citrus nose with hay and grapefruit. Really lively carbonation with a watery texture. Tastes coriander, orange zest and hey with some weak notes of pepper, yeast and apples.

355 ml bottle @den gode nabo. Slightly dim yellow body with a big frothy white head. Mild, light spicy almost perfumed aroma with citric fruit and light malt. Flavor is refreshing and fruity, mild malt and spices. Not really typical Belgium wit, but a nice and easy, non offending thirst-quencher with a mild wheat and yeast flavor.
