What’s this? A British-style IPA named after the man who defeated His Majesty’s Royal Navy in the War of 1812? Consider this a bold, hoppy (and mildly ironic) plunder of war.

Bottle from 101 bottles, Kent, OH. Now the third time having this and it really doesn't do it for me. Aroma is quite blunt on the booze, almost in a Belgian IPA sense. Taste is also quite ethanol like. It had moments of west coast hoppage vibe but overall not holding together with too much booze and sweetness.

Pour is a clear amber with a large white head. Aroma is a faint whiff of hops with a caramel malt. Flavor is pretty much all caramel malt with a little hop bitterness at the end. One of those IPA's where 30 years ago this would have been groundbreaking but not it's just a sweet malt bomb with very little hop presence.

Bottle from J’s. Pours a clear gold with a finger of foam that dissipates quickly. Light peach aromas with lots of honey. Clean on the palate, but a tad boozy. More honey flavors. Sweet finish with a lingering honey and bitterness. --- Beer merged from original tick of Commodore Perry IPA on 14 Jan 2017 at 20:33 - Score: 6. Original review text: A little peach and honey on the nose. Clean but a tad boozy on the palate. Sweet with lots of honey notes showing. Solid.

On tap at the Backyard Alehouse in Scranton. It pours a clear light golden color with an off white head. The aroma is lightly herbal with some grapefruit and citrus. The flavor is very herbal, lightly vegetal with some multigrain bread and toast. Biscuity malts. It’s a bit watery on the palate with low to medium bitterness. Meh.
