"Clean this mess up or else we'll all end up in jail...those test tubes and the scale...just get 'em all outta here..." He was referring to the complex super-critical-CO2 hop extraction equipment set up on the table in the lab across from the brewhouse. Hop extracts are for the BIG brewers, he thought - suitable only for crummy sub-standard and barely-passable industrial lagers, not the subtle and elegant craft beer made here. But wrong he was. The New Brewer does not eschew any possible inputs. In this case the mountain of extracts will replace the mountain of hop vegetative material in the kettle thus creating cleaner hop flavors and preventing the otherwise spinach-like mess of a kettle full of super-hopped wort from clogging up a pump or worse. The sensuous honey-like amber ooze was administered intravenously to the wort kettle and the sacrament was complete. Another kettle of Hop Stoopid is once again raised up and fermented on high

Found this at a bottle shop in Manhattan, NY, at my first trip in US, i think around 8-10$. Did hear of the brand before, love hoppy ales, when i saw this i had to pick it. Big surprise when it’s a 100pts beer here, big expectations then. Poured light amber, clear, enormous and expanding creamy white head. Hoppy nose indeed. Aroma is sort of IPA, very thick malts backbone, caramel malt and fruity tones, grapefruit, and a smack of american hops. Taste is unexpectedly sweet, there’s a lot of malt floating around and i can’t say this is a 102 IBU at all, seems to be less than half of that. But taste is well balanced anyway. Body is full, thick, very heavy. Can’t feel the alcohol so much, but did its effect after a little while. Long finish. Reminds me of Dogfish 90’, very similar taste. Honestly i was expecting something more hoppy and this wasn’t the case but still a rock solid and heavy duty brew that deserves a taste. Excellent IIPA

Orange, amber, clear body, with a medium, creamy, off-white head.
Aroma with wonderful, distinct pine notes, grapefruit, peach, orange zest, biscuit, honey.
Taste with about the same aromas and some additional black tea notes.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes bitter, but smooth, piney, fruity, also a bit malty.
Very tasty! A perfectly balanced blend of fresh, piney and fruity hops and very smooth malts. One of those beers, where you get the impression of a walk in a pine forest, when you smell it.

bottle at home from trade with amazingwrldfood, many thanks Rob :) orange clear color. small white head. smells fruity, some sweetness, strong pines, mango, light grass, oranges. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel, some sweetness, strong taste of pines, oranges, mango, light citric, grapefruity. light bitter / piney finish. very nice balanced brew, nice pine and citric notes.

On cask at the Southern. Appearance - golden amber with a decent head. Nose - a mix of citrus and tropical fruit. Lime marmalade. Taste - lime marmalade and turkish delight. Palate - medium bodied with a big tangy texture and a long tangy finish. Overall - i find this just a little too sweet which is a shame as I love the flavours.

Night three of sampling some famous American IPA heavy hitters. From a 650ml bottle on 29/1/2015 (no ref to Sonoma Farmhouse). Pours an almost clear medium golden with a small head. Has a lovely, very floral hop nose featuring lots of tropical and stone fruit (passionfruit and peach). Sweet peach and pear dominate flavour wise, with big sharp resiny hops providing near perfect balance. This is an imperial where the hops easily hold way over the malt, which is quite muted. The bitterness lingers and lingers, begging you to take another sip. Comes across as relatively light for a double, with average carbonation. Truly lovely stuff.
