"Clean this mess up or else we'll all end up in jail...those test tubes and the scale...just get 'em all outta here..." He was referring to the complex super-critical-CO2 hop extraction equipment set up on the table in the lab across from the brewhouse. Hop extracts are for the BIG brewers, he thought - suitable only for crummy sub-standard and barely-passable industrial lagers, not the subtle and elegant craft beer made here. But wrong he was. The New Brewer does not eschew any possible inputs. In this case the mountain of extracts will replace the mountain of hop vegetative material in the kettle thus creating cleaner hop flavors and preventing the otherwise spinach-like mess of a kettle full of super-hopped wort from clogging up a pump or worse. The sensuous honey-like amber ooze was administered intravenously to the wort kettle and the sacrament was complete. Another kettle of Hop Stoopid is once again raised up and fermented on high

Leicht trübe goldene Farbe, schöner stabiler weißer Schaum. Geruch kräftig malzig, was für eine Hopfenbombe, reife Früchte. Geschmack nach Aprikosen, Pfirsisch, bitter, kräftig hopfig, süß malzig im Abgang.

Clear golden orange coloured pour with a steadfast off white head. Aroma is composed of tasty light caramel rounded malt. Light grassy and burnt I range peel. Uber tasty. Maybe q little sweet. Sticky off white head. Palate is semi sweet, with a lasting sticky off white head. Flavour is a little caramel and toffeee malts with a little spicy Hoo. I could drink a pint of this.

Keg at the drygate. Pours clear amber, merest white head. Big resin and pine aromas, caramel in the background. Taste us bitter, but decent malt balance. Slightly prickly carbonation makes it easy drinking for the strength. Nice.

Keg at The Hanging Bat and bottle from Cornelius. Clear golden body with a thin off-white head. Steady carbonation. Great lacing. Aroma of peach, pine, grapefruit and freshly opened bag of hops. Flavour is peppery and very hoppy - notes of pine, boozy orange, pineapple jelly, Jaffa Cake, honey and lemon. Medium body with an oily texture. Lively fizz. One of my all-time favourite beers. A truly outstanding DIPA.

Bouteille:Deep golden, a bit hazy, mid-sized rocky off-white head, medical-herbal nose with a bready to caramelly background, in which a secret fruitiness is still detectable; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, nearly full bodied; lingering herbal-medical finish with slight alcohol burn and still some breadyness. Just good, not too exciting…

Poured from 1 pint 6 fl oz bottle. Clear, light orangey yellow with full white head. Aroma of caramel malt and strong grassy and grapefruity hops. Same flavour. Excellent balance in sweetness and bitterness.

Clear medium amber with a two finger off white head that hangs around and leaves a lot of lace. Nose is big pine resin with some citrus and then some more pine with a light toffee hiding behind it all. Exceptionally bitter all the way through with enough sweet malt backbone to keep it from being really, really stoopid. Mouth is medium full an creamy with a lingering bitter finish Fully expected this to be excessively astringent, but it is actually very drinkable for the level of bitterness and the alcohol is well hidden.
