Tap. Amber color with tan ring. Aroma is fresh piney and grapefruity hops, as well as some caramel and sugary crystal malts. Taste is grapefruits, brown sugar. Oily mouthfeel. Very hoppy strong ale, Lagunitas-style.

Tap at J’s. Pours a deep, rich brown with a finger of foam that dissipates quickly. Light brown sugar nose with citrus and pine on the nose. Light caramel and pine hops. Clean and crisp, with a nice sweet sorghum character on the palate. Light bodied. Bottle from Total Wine & More, St Petersburg. Orange/brown, not too much visible carbonation and a small ring of white head. Caramel, resin, clove, orange and a bit of Robusta coffee in the aroma. The initial sweet taste turns very bitter almost immediately. Long bitter finish bordering on astringent, but there’s always the sweetness of the malt underlying the flavour a bit. Biscuit and tangerine peel in the aftertaste. Interesting and certainly enjoyable.

Small bottle bought in Bottle Jockey. Slightly sweet hoppy aroma and taste with tropical fruits notes. Aftertaste with strong hoppy piney bitterness and slight bready notes on the background. Very good, but as DIPA, not a barleywine.
