Bottle from Systembolaget. Clear amber with a large head. Sweet with sugar, malt, some dried fruit and warming alcohol. Drinkable but a bit "raw".

Gott.

(355ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours a clear deep amber with a small fine white head and lace. Aroma has brown sugar as promised, caramel, orange peel, mixed dry fruit, maybe something herbal/soapy in the hop note. Taste is sweet, brown sugar, deep caramel, dried fruit, marmalade. Hop bitterness comes in towards the finish, piney, a bit herbal, moderately strong but still doesn’t totally overpower the malts. Aftertaste has brown sugar, sweet orange, citrus pith, a little alcohol. Lightish body for a barley wine, fairly soft carb. Quite sweet on the whole despite a decent hop grip, doesn’t really have the fullness and complexity of a barley wine. Kind of like a very sweet and not terribly tropical DIPA. Not bad, but lacks both heft and refinement.

Pours clear dark orange / light brown . Good white head . Smell is bit sweet, caramel and ambermalts . Taste is sweet, rather intense caramelly malts . Rather high ABV for the beer you get , but nothing to extreme . Mildly sweet aftertaste , some honey - caramel - sweetness .

12oz bottle from Wegmans, West Seneca, NY. An inviting reddish amber colour with a loose cream head; sweet, sugary aroma; thick and syrupy in the mouth, with a smooth caramel taste, and lots of warmth as the alcohol slowly releases; giving a warming, deeply satisfying finish. An excellent old-fashioned Barley Wine, had to sip and savour.

Bottle. Cherry-apple and caramel malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet cherry, caramel malt and mildly bitter fresh hay flavor. Body on the lighter side for a barleywine. Excellent - a barleywine I could drink every day.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with large spongy beige head, floral hops aroma, medium carbonation, hoppy taste balanced with a little sweetness, long hoppy finish. Great brew, the high alcohol content is not noticeable at all.
