We took some fresh Sanguinello Blood oranges, juiced 'em, concentrated that juice (without heat) and threw it into a wheatier version of our New Dogtown Pale Ale. The end result? A refreshingly hopped pale-ish ale with a huge citrus burst!

Bottle: Slightly hazy gold with a solid white head. Blood orange and peel scent. Taste is sweet and peppery blood orange, wheat malt. Nicely juicy orange, followed by an increasing peel bitter. Very nice.

Tap at Jane Doe Östersund. Well it tastes like almost every other lagunitas beer....sometimes I wonder if they make ant effort at all to be varied. Still, always a reliable choice.

A golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light citrus pulp, Floral hops, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with loads of orange pulp, light tropical fruits, resinous floral hops, very nice. On tap at Chicago brewery.

Fairly potent for a pale ale, but not bad, with a hardcore blood orange citrus tartness wrapped around a grainy, semisweet base beer. I’m thinking I’d be more interested in this brew if it lacked the fruity adjunct, since there seems to be a formidable pale underneath, with hints of wheat and pine and wet malt. But the orange dominates, and, while drinkable, the pint ends up a bit one-note. Gorgeous citrus nose, though.

Bottle, 7.7% ABV. Clear gold with a white head. Aroma of sweet hay, lots of oranges. It’s more - indeed too - obvious that it’s actual oranges when you take a swig. Moderately sweet, medium bodied, bitterness on the low side of medium. The interplay between the hops and blood oranges is really very nice, particularly at the finish. It’s just so careless with the alcohol - costs it .2 or .3 for me.
