Impossibly reddish in color (due to the beets) with nitro cascade fading into a pink cap of stable foam, great clarity. Seeing the beer in the glass shows the obvious resemblance to a slice of red velvet cake (red cake on the bottom topped with a layer of creamy white frosting). But the similarities don’t end there. The aroma is dominated by chocolate with earthy notes of beets and subtle wafts of roast coco. The flavor is similar to the aroma but with faint roast and hop bitterness coming in at the end balance it out, not cloying or overly sweet. The mouthfeel is medium and the finish is luxuriously smooth. It’s dessert served in a pint glass!

Bottle. A- Cake, vanilla, malty, subtle cocoa. A- Red color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Creamy, watery, subtle cocoa, malty, mild bitterness, stale cake, vanilla. P- Light body, creamy texture, flat carbonation, slightly bitter finish. O- Really cool looking bottle artwork. First off, I don’t like nitro but I get the point in using it to give off a creamy cake like texture. Smells like cake a little bit once it warms up but otherwise there isn’t a ton of flavor. It has that typical watery creamy nitro taste along with some malty notes and a bit of bitterness. Cocoa is very mild and really doesn’t taste like cake at all. No where near the dessert beers from the Moo Joos variants Brau Brothers does. Okay, but I think it’d be much better without nitro.

Nitro tap. Pours bright ruby into a shaker. Creamy head with excellent retention recedes to skim surface. Cream soda aromas. Dry creamy cherry and birthday cake from to back.

On tap at Ballast Point Little Italy. Reddish with a small head. Sweet with chocolate, malt and some cocoa. The body was light and the bitterness low.

Pour is a red with a small pink head. Aroma is all things sweet. Reminds me of icing on a store bought birthday sheet cake. Flavor is more icing with some cake flour. Not a porter but it does taste like a cake so I’ll give it that. Total gimmick, novelty beer but it was worth a try.

Probably the best beet beer I’ve had this year. The other was was truly horrible. Pours red like.... uh... red velvet cake. Some light beet and a little malt. Tangy finish. Tap at Lost River Pizza.

Nitro bottle from Wine Warehouse. I’m not sure it did it’s thing... It doesn’t give any head, looks almost flat, syrup-like... also there’s no widget or whatever in the bottle. Perhaps just pre-nitro’d, I don’t know. Definitely red. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla... sweet smelling. Flavor is sweet vanilla and chocolate, some candiness to the chocolate. Interesting, a red stout. I don’t dislike it, but it’s a little flat.

Bottle from West Side. Pours a clear ruby red with a small white head. Like a flat big red on the nose. Creamy on the palate (nitro?) with some chocolate and vanilla notes. It’s fun and red. 12oz bottle. No no no. This is not a Stout. Sweet undesirable beet tone and purple red color. Has some of the artificial french toast vanilla maple thing going on. A pretty horrible beer, not off, just a bad mixture of stuff. Why is this 15 a 6pack? This stuff sucks. Candied red cream soda.
