Keg at the brewpub, as Rauchbier, 27/09/15. Murky orange amber topped with a moderate beige swirl. Nose is big on smoked malt, spice, toffee, straw gammon. Taste comprises smoked malt, dark fruit rinds, wood chip, charr, lightly smoked ham hock, toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough smoked affair.

Keg at the hideously overcrowded De Prael bar. Very hazy deep amber - brown beer, small cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and fairly crisp. Modest dried fruits and ripe fruits. Well judged white smoke. Minerally crisp finish. Not bad.

Thanks for sharing! Sampled draft @ De Prael during Carnivale Brettanomyces #4. Sampled as “Rauchbier”. Hazy amber, brown appearance, small head. Nose is pleasant smoke, smoked seitan, malty, light odd plastic note,… Taste is campfire, mild Lapsang Souchon, smoked seitan, smoked twigs, light Bamberg style smoked malt, light sugar, bread,… Med. body. Very simple but surprisingly decent considering the quality of other De Prael beers, only beer that I tried during at De Prael during Carnivale Brettanomyces #4 that I wouldn’t object to drinking a full glass of.

Tap at de Prael. Amber with small white head. Smoked ham, bacon, lots of it. Some malts, caramel, but it’s suppressed by the massive bacon. Medium bodied.
