Defender of the intergalactic downtrodden, conqueror of bad beers and long-winded evildoers, Galactica soars with ease from one star system to the next. Her dual-hop staff disperses justice, freedom, and intense hop flavor. Dry hopped with Galaxy Hops, this Double IPA balances a hop profile of light bitterness and notes of tropical fruit, citrus, and pine with a clean malt backbone.

35,5 cl bottle @ Bishops Arms, Umeå. Aroma is nice with tropical fruits and resiny tones. Flavour is somewhat heavy and sweet with resin, pine needles, fruity hops and some gooseberry bush. Also mellow gluey tones. Fruity and nice. A DIPA? Well, I thought this would be an IPA. Or American strong.

amber color Hugely hoppy heady nose. Like sticking your nose into a fresh bag of hops. The mouth is very heady, strong, full bodied, like chewy on a hop cone, but decent enough baclbone to balance things out. Über hoppy and lovely.

Bottle at Butlers, Uddevalla. Clear deep orange, big fluffy white head with yellow nuances, lots of sticky lacings, nice. Aroma is juicy fruity with a bitter side to it, lots of resin, oranges, slight honey. Taste starts quite big malty fruity, with resins, citrus, slight sweet touch before a real bitterness kicks in, lastung until the end which also finishes dry with zest. Medium body, medium carbo, sticky texture. Solid, I’d like to try this fresh on tap.

(Bottle sample @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Mar 21 2015) Pours clear deep amber with a small white head lingering with lace. Aroma mostly of orange zest, grassy, a little tropical hop resin, sweet caramel malt. Flavour has a lot of caramel and honey sweetness, orange, a bit of resin, bitterness building to moderate levels in the finish, citrus pith and grass, some grain. A little sticky in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, average carb. Didn’t feel that fresh, too malty and sweet, ended up being one note. OK, probably a bit better fresh.

dark orange. no head. nose is pretty dank. very astringent overpowering pine cone aroma. almost no malt backbone at all. tons of resent hops. very bitter. galaxy hops are redeeming but this just isn’t a great beer. would love to have it fresher I think.

Winter Beer Fest, Philly: Pours copper with an off-white head. Aroma is citrus and sugar. Taste is rather on the bitter side. There is a lot of grapefruit. It is also a little bit sweet. I wasn’t all that impressed with this one. Still pretty good though.

Location: Bottle at the Bar Below, 6/4/14

Aroma: It has a citrus and floral hop aroma, catty notes, and some tropical fruit
Appearance: It pours a murky looking dark orange color with a beige head
Flavor: The flavor is fruity and a little soapy, floral notes as well, similar to the nose
Palate: The body is medium-plus, and it has a decent mouthfeel and carbonation to it
Overall Impression: Found this to be a solid beer, but not a top-of-style offering. Still I enjoyed it. Might be worth re-visiting, as I'm sure the age.
