500ml bottle, batch 1362, from Vinmonopolet Bestillingsutvalget. Opaque coal black body. Filmy layer, minimal lacing. Inviting aromas of cocoa, leather and bread. Rich taste profile of chocolate, dark honey, dark bread and earth added by a twist of berries. Lingering roasted malty bitterness to the finish. Full bodied. Pleasant slow sipper (shared with Finn and djoeye at a rating session in Tromsø 03.04.2016).

Flaske 500ml fra Vinmonopolet Nettbutikk. Batch 1362. Delt med djoeye og Rune på Nerstranda 3 Apr 16. Svart. Lavt mokkafarget skum. Spotlacing. Lett honningaroma. Oljeaktig munnfølelse. Smaken lakris. Lett syrlig ettersmak. Alkoholen godt kamuflert. Utmerket øl!

Black color with beige head. Aroma is viscous black chocolate, nutty, maybe a bit of coffee. Taste is nutty, chocolate, some roasted malts, thick, spicy, even a bit chili (the taste, not the hotness). Feels a tiny bit muted. Still thick enough for just 9% for an Imperial Stout. Very nutty, chocolaty and spicy, not so much coffee or vanilla. Good!

Nøgne Ø MOLE Stout 9% A beautiful pitch black with a thick rusty head of foam which alas does not linger. The aroma is rich, nutty, smokey, chocolate mole goodness. Medium bodied with a silly mouthfeel. This tastes heavenly, smokey chocolate, nuts, roasty toasted oats. I dig it, plus it’s a reasonable 1200¥ or so for 500ml.

From a 500ml bottle on 30/12/2015. Pours close to black with virtually no head. Has a very light chocolate aroma with little else presenting. Flavour wise, it’s similarly subdued - a good dash of chocolate and a very muted roasty bitterness at the back. The texture is slick and the carbonation relatively soft. Super easy drinking for 9%, very pleasant, but not especially interesting or challenging for an impy.

500 ml bottle from Etre Gourmet.
Black body, with a small, dense, coffee-colored head.
Aroma of coffee, nuts, caramel, liquorice, some tobacco, dark fruits.
Taste starts sweet, with nuts, dark fruits, caramel, dark chocolate and becomes quite dry, with espresso, cocoa powder, liquorice, some wood, slight tobacco.
Full, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes smooth, medium dry, roasty, moderate bitter, with coffee, liquorice, wood, cocoa, some tobacco, some alcohol warmth.
Very nice. Smooth, with a well hidden alcohol. Maybe not as big as I want Imperial Stouts, so this isn’t among my favourite Nøgne beers, while it still is enjoyable.
