500ml bottle @ Ølhus Oslo, Helsinki Batch 1362, BBE 04.02.20 - Pours pitch black with a smooth brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, cocoa, nuts, hints of spices, licorice, dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is smooth, roasty and nutty with loads of cocoa, coffee, dark chocolate and hints of spices. Finish is roasty, heavy and spicy with some cocoa, coffee, chocolate and nuts. Very balanced and tasty, almost like a spiced cocoa version of the regular Nøgne IS.

(Bottle, 0,5 l - batch 1362 - brygget 04.02.15 - BB 04.02.20, at Pikkulintu, 20140411) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, liquorice, molasses and fruity hops. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, liquorice, sweetness, dark chocolate, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, burnt and bitter. A combination of flavour every one of which I would find unpleasant alone but in this combination they matched together well.

Aromas and flavours: Chocolate, some coffee, hints of chili and roasted malts. Just perfect amount of chili for me. Soft but could be heavier. Overall very drinkable and enjoyable.

Bottle. A black one, almost, with a minimal sized tan head. It’s mostly on the dark malty side, with molasses, dark chocolate, coffee and some demerara sugar. A nice hoppy touch too, some pine cones. It’s full bodied and quite sweet, with a soft carbonation. Some warmth. Sweetness, molasses, roasted malts, some coffee and dark sugars. A decent bitterness too. Lasting sweet and malty finish. Intense, but very nice this one. Made to share. 150321
