This seasonal beer is a limited edition brewed for the short days and long nights of winter. The full body resulting from fermentation in ‘stone Yorkshire squares’ and the luxurious malt character, which will appeal to a broad range of drinkers, is balanced against whole-dried Fuggle and Golding hops with nuances and complexities that should be contemplated before an open fire.

Bottle thanks to Chris. Pours a clear copper hue, very clear, a medium white head. A big malty nose. Yeasty, butterscotch, toast, caramel. Very smooth. No idea how this is different than the regular version if at all. Solid.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with a decent head. The taste is mostly a sweet malt, some spices, and some hops. Really thin and smooth. Not great, but decent.

550 ml bottle. Tawny, amber orange pour. Large frothy beige head settles to a small creamy cap. Earthy, toasted malt aroma has a hint of sweetness. Flavor follows nose. Toasted malt, caramel and spicy hops rule the palate. There’s a tinge of tanginess that seems to show up in many of Samuel Smith brews. I find it to be charismatic and enjoyable. I don’t know if this is all that different than past vintages of Winter Welcome, but it is definitely a delicious partaking of a British classic.

355 ml bottle. 2012-2013 vintage. Pours a bright amber orange color with a medium-sized rocky beige head. Fragrant toasted malt nose hints at toffee and baked bread. Tangy toasted malt flavor with notes of brown sugar, currants and bitter hops. Good balance, nice flavor and very drinkable. This is not like most winter ales or Xmas brews. Very traditional and stayed. Like most Samuel Smith brews, worth seeking out and enjoying. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Welcome Back Ale on 13 Dec 2020 at 02:22 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7. Original review text: 500 ml bottle. Essentially, this is the same beer known as Samuel Smith Winter Welcome that the brewery releases every year in late fall, early winter. They have renamed it as Welcome Back to pay tribute to all of the hospitality workers that have been impacted by the COVID 19 Pandemic. Orange copper pour. Small creamy beige cap. Mild earthy, toffeeish malt aroma. Flavor is more toffee malt and a bit of earthy, woodiness. Soft herbal, spicy hops in finish.

This year’s bottle is dedicated to Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. She’s dead now though. Malty. Light, slight metallic taste. Must be the platinum they added to the brewing process.

# 3299; 11/2022. Biscuit malty aroma, fruity, light spicy. Brilliant amber body; persistant off-white head. Full body; malty, cherry, dried fruits, zesty, herbal. Full of typical british flavors, balanced. Very good english strong ale. 0,55 l, bottle with a label dedicated to the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, beer shop, Vienna. The Queen is dead, long live The King!

0.55 l bottle from 'Craftbeershop.com', best before November 2023. Bottle label celebrates the Queen's 70 year jubilee. Clear, deep amber with a medium large, foamy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, malty, gently fruity-floral aroma of plum, black tea, raisins and some blackberry. Gently sweet, malty, moderately bitter, moderately fruity-floral, gently herbal-spicy taste of plum, black tea, raisins, light tobacco and a touch of blackberry, followed by a short, moderately bitter, a little dry finish. Medium body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very pleasant ale, nicely malty but with a solid hop bitterness, even a little dry. Typically British, more or less what I expected.
