Das Weiherer Rauch, das beim European Beer Star mit der Goldmedaille prämiert worden ist, besticht nicht nur mit glänzendem goldfarbenen Aussehen, sondern vor allem durch seine fein-würzigen Rauchmalznoten. Allein der Geruch lässt sie eindeutig erkennen, doch zeigen sie sich auf ihrem Höhepunkt erst beim Genuss. Da kommt der ganze weiche, niemals zu heftige Malzkörper zum Vorschein, der eingehüllt ist in die zarten Hopfennoten. Da bleibt der Hauch von Rauch auch noch, wenn der letzte Schluck getrunken ist. Ein Bier, das auch nicht-Rauchbier-Kenner überzeugt.

Day 3 of the post Xmas Bamberg Jolly, bottle from the Rewe Bamberg shared on the train from Nuremberg to Freising, 26/01/14. Clear golden with a moderate white covering. Nose delivers a smoked malt hit - well integrated in this respect and not overpowering, rye bread, toffee. Taste comprises toffee, subtle rausch, smoked gammon. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Really good Rauch, one of the best train beers of the weekend.

Bamberg Bash Day 3. Train swig. Light haze on this gold beer, good ivory head. Palate is smooth and dry. Light fine carbonation. Smooth smoke over mildly floral pale malt. Quite a dry finish. Nicely joined up.

Der Geruch ist nur leicht rauchig, dazu malzig-mild. Im Geschmack ist es schön frisch-malzig-süßlich. Leicht feinherb. Schön lange auf der Zunge bleibendes Raucharoma, das aber nicht so dominant ausgeprägt ist. Vielleicht insgesamt einen Tick zu wässrig!!

0.5l bottle. Clear dark golden body, white head. Pretty smoky aroma, with some floral hops. The taste has a bit more bready taste to it, but still it’s more smoky and floral. Balanced beer with not too intense smoke character. I like it.

Appearance: Clear nutty brown color with a fine frothy off white head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Malty, ham and mild fruity.
Palate: Medium (+) body. Tad sweet and a mild bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Malty, ham, bacon and mild fruity.
Overall impression: Together with proper food this was outstanding!

Dark golden with a small white head. Malty aroma with quite a bit of smoke. Sweet malty flavour with fruity notes, meaty smoke and a bit of burned smoke character

Bottle shared by Peter Bognar. Best before 2011. Aroma smoky, woody, light peat. Smoked ham. Colour is hazy amber. Taste is decently smoky with smoked ham and enough balancing maltiness. Some hops bitterness to spice things up a bit. Really good, easily drinkable.

Draught @ Akkurat. Pours clear golden with a creamy and frothy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of trace and lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with bread, smoke, charred wood, wet moss and hints of banana bread and other yeasty esters. Taste is slightly sweet and tiny malty with bread, banana, lemon zest, smoke, yeasty esters, burnt wood and hints of sheet metal. Mouthfeel is smooth, slightly watery and light bodied. Finish is slightly sweet and tiny bitter with bread, banana, smoke, moist grass and hints of sheet metal.
