12 oz bottle, best by Nov. 24, 2009. Pours clear golden orange with a white head. Aroma is slightly sweet with nice citrus hops. Flavor is solid citrus hops again with a solid bitterness. Not terribly complex, but this one is purely about hops. Since I’m a fan of hops, I’m a fan of this beer.

Brown bottle, 12 ounces, best before Apr 28 05, gift from Luc Bourbonnière, savoured on December 18 2008, eye caramel with an orangey hue, hazy, suspended matter, tan head that falls and turns into a tiny, no effervescence, lots of lacing, nose resinous hops, caramel, stale, pine, basement, mouth resinous hops, pine, caramel, basement, alcohol, finale in resinous hops with a good presence of caramel malt, lightly sweet, mildly bitter, medium-full body, slightly harsh texture, below-average carbonation, overall correct

Large, creamy white head with a clear golden-light orange body. Great lacing, good retention. Head can be recalled at will. Aroma is of strong hops both piney and citrus. Light toffee and exotic fruits as well. Taste is strongly hoppy with a bit of astringent cerealness and a clean sweet caramalized malt presence (taste like I am actually eating the malt grain). Syrupy with light bubbles. Lingering bitterness and fruitiness, finally finishing sweet. A very solid beer, but doesn’t really feel as explosive as most DIPAs.

Bottle from South Bay Drug. Lightly orange tinged gold color with a vigorous off-white head. Lucious floral hop aroma. Medium body with near creamy carbonation. Flavor is pale malt dominated by floral and fruity hop. It’s not so much bitter (though it is bitter) as it is hoppy. Particularly in the finish. More astringent than bitter. Brilliant.

Twickenham Brewery tasting 08. Clear gold, thin white head. Thanks to some decent hops. It’s fine. But a bit metallic. It’s ok, a little disappointing.

Bottle Pours out a amber topped with a nice off white cream head. A very nice floral nose. Tast of sweet caramel and malts. A very nice hop on this brew. Man I ish I could get this one at my local beer store.

Light coppery color with a white head that leaves thick lacing. Fruity hops aroma. Taste is really bitter and really hoppy, but not too hoppy I don’t think. It really strives to be a super hoppy beer, but it succeeds in ways which other doubles don’t I think. Semi-sweet fruitiness. Almost peppery taste, but mostly a lot of hops.

Bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Pours a cloudy bright hi-c orange with a small head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma of plum, pineapple and malt. Mouthfeel is nice, taste works well. Aftertaste is a bit offensive.

draft at O’Brien’s - This one was the third one I tried on double IPA night. It also had an excellent hop rich aroma. The flavor was dominated by the citrus hops but also had a decent balance. Medium bodied and enjoyable, it finished with another long pleasantly bitter one. Having three good, strong, hop heavy beers back to back, it’s hard to pick the best, but I’d have to go with Poor Man’s.

This brew is a deep orange-amber color with a thin and creamy off-white head that diminishes quickly. Patchwork lacing on the glass. Primarily hops and citrus in the nose, along with some malt in the background. Medium-bodied and crisp at first with moderately bitter hops and citrus flavors, followed by an increasingly assertive sweet malt undertone. Mild spice is present as well. The finish is grapefruit and hops with a lingering bitterness. Very good overall.
