Welcome back our boldly hoppy pal. Legendary Cascade hops mix-it-up with assertive Simcoe for a powerful, citrusy and earthy foundation that is galvanized with a big punch of fruity Citra. This IPA packs a hoppy wallop!

355 ml bottle shared with Gnoff @ Rotary Pub on December 1. Pours hazy yellow with a creamy white head that slowly dissipates. Smell is malty sweet with resin, wood and grass. Taste is slightly sweet with green grapes, melon, peaches, resin and pine. Finish is slightly sweet and slightly bitter.

355ml bottle. Pours gold with a large head. Aroma is banana, citrus malt and clove spice. Taste is spicy to start. Banana, clove and bread finish. A little old, maybe. Full in the mouth, no hint of booze.

Pours amber with a large, lasting head.Nose shows lots of tropical fruit with mango and lychee at the forefront. Underneath is caramel and lots of sweet clean malt. Later on some pine shows.Similarly fruity flavours at first before the hops transform to piny and spicy notes. Very piny! Lasts right through the lengthy finish, accompanying a bold bitterness. The resinous pine is a bit full-on in my opinion, almost seeming industrial. Quite a lot of sweet clean malt shows later.Carbonation could be a little higher, body seems a little thick.

355ml bottle. Pours golden with gentle bubbles and a generous head. The nose has loads of pine and some grapefruit pith. The taste has still got the bitter grapefruit pith going on but there is enough alcohol sweetness to bring some dried fruit notes in there too. The palate medium to large in structure with a middle section that is tangy in part and creamy in part. The finish is bitter but not too astringent. Overall, very thirst quenching but also very drinkable.

Bottle. Clear gold with a frothy white head. Aroma of oranges, tropical fruit, caramel. Sweet with stone and tropical fruit, caramel, vanilla; bitter lemon pudding and grapefruit flavours creep up at the end (a little soap too). Duller as it warms and the bitterness loses some of its bite.

From a 355ml bottle on 4/10/2011. Pours an almost clear golden colour with a big head - doesn’t look much like a DIPA. Has a nice sweet fruity, toffee and honey aroma which doesn’t scream of hops. In the mouth, it’s very sweet with heaps of citrus fruit, which is nicely balanced by a big grapefruity hop presence. It’s actually very easy to drink for 8.5%. An atypical but very nice imperial.

Bottle. Clear deep golden color with a medium white head. Aroma of slightly resinous hops with some fruitiness (citrus and other fruits) and notes of malt. Flavor starts sweet with caramel, biscuits and slightly grainy malt. Finishes very bitter with resinous and somewhat grapefruity hops and some alcohol. Medium-bodied. Too sweet, too resinous - not what I like in a DIPA. Still, not a bad beer.

Bottle at GBBF 2011. It pours clear orange-yellow, with a thick fluffy white head. The nose is sweet tangerine, farmyard, orange, candied fruit, green apple, grass, pine and resin. The taste is tangerine, orange pith, light resin, grass, a little alcohol warmth and some light caramel, with a massive bitter finish. Low to moderate body, foamy mouth-feel and moderate, but soft carbonation. Tasty and refreshing.
