16 ounce can into tulip glass; no can dating, but was just released locally. Pours hazy opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky tan head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, char, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, vanilla, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, char, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, grassy, spicy hop; and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, toasted dark/brown bread, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, char, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, vanilla, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with an awesome roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 7.5%. Overall this is an outstanding flavored American stout! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, vanilla, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish, awesomely soft feel. Fantastically rich malts with vanilla and fruity/nutty coffee complexity; with balancing earthy hops against sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on base style example.

Sampled on draft at Pipers this beer poured a black color with a small foamy tan head that left no lacing. The aroma was vanilla and brewed coffee. The flavor as bitterish with vanilla, brewed coffee and a bit of marshmallow. Long finish. Medium bodied and smooth.

16oz can thanks to Steve. Pours out dark brown almost black topped with a tan head. After 3 tried and beer splashing everywhere we finally got the nitro ball to pop. Nose is sweet milk chocolate and coffee. Taste is more of the nice sweet chocolate coffee and some vanilla.
