Golden, with a floral aroma and a full hoppy flavour that is balanced by a crisp dry maltiness and a rich finish.

Cask @ Victorian Craft Beer Café, Halifax. Clear golden with a frothy head. Has a surprisingly fuller tropical taste and a potent dry hoppy aroma for its relatively low strength.

Cask at the White Hart, Beaconsfield. Difficult one to rate this, as you’ll see. Amber-gold with an odd clumpy white head. Lots of floralness and some lemon. Really quite tart. Clearly the tartness is not meant to be there, this is clearly off. But oddly it works rather well with the beer and I’m quite happy drinking it. At some point I’d like to try this beer as it’s meant to be; in the meantime it’s possible that Salopian could actually successfully sell gone off pints of Shropshire Gold as "Shropshire Sour" and do quite well out of it. Which does raise some serious questions about the legitimacy of some of the other sour beers out there...!

Cask at Odfellows. Clear golden body with a medium white head. Good lacing. Aroma of earth, grass and herbs. Flavour of grass, earthy hops and lemon. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft prickle of carbonation. A decent cask ale, but not as tasty as Oracle.

Cask at the Wellington Arms, Bedford. Light gold with a loose white head. Malty smell with a suggestion of lemon. Bittersweet taste with a soapy/malty backbone. The sweet fruity finish and full, well-carbonated palate make a happy ending to this less-than-exciting beer. Not one of Salopian’s best but still ok.
