Clear amber without any head. Aroma is sweet, chocolate and odd fruity. Flavor is quite sweet. Sweet finish. Watery. I like chocolate in beer but this is really bad. 070212

Originally rated March 2006. Sampled at Vineyards in Ottawa, Ontario. Best before February 2006. This witbier with chocolate pours a hazy caramel-amber colour with an off-white medium head and thin lace, but all around. The soft nose is of chocolate with hints of caramel. Thin-bodied with a slight pasted mouthfeel. The taste is of chocolat and candy, that is not too sweet, and not really bitter. Also in there, is orange mixed in, with a touch of nuts and candy diminishing in the aftertaste. Had this one for dessert, right after having Burger King (oh yeah !)... and it was delicious.

Bottle. Pours clear brown. Light off white head. Nose is artificial cheap chocolate candy with artificial cherries in it and some artificial nut extract. Taste is cheap artificial chocolate candy floating in a stale glass of soda - almost like a really cheap chocolate soda. Light to medium body.

Slightly hazy red brown beer. Crispish palate. Odd flavour of sweet cherry coca cola with sweet cocoa chocolate. Finishes semi dry and chocolatey. Not the up chuck beer I remember trying in Bruges a few years ago, maybe an improved recipie? But this is still not great.

[330ml bottle from Beers of Europe that my Dad shared with me - cheers, I think...] Clear bronzey colour, no head and aggressive fizz. Sickly sweet chocolate sweet syrup aroma continues into the flavour. Cream liqueur comes through, which really doesn’t go with the fizz. There’s a faint hint of lemon, presumably from the underlying wheat beer, but it fails to save it. On returning to it after a toilet break I found the smell even more off-putting than the first time round - a bad beer that gets worse the more you drink.

0.33 l bottle courtesy of Doggythedog, thanks for sharing! It poured brown body with medium sized tan head. Strange roses aroma, a little bit of cocoa, not very lovely for sure. Flavor wasn’t anything better and even stranger. Some orange and roses, slightly bitter in its medium overly carbonated body. Very little chocolate is felt towards its finish, which was quite boring and longer due to such carbonation. Strange and boring, even for a fruit beer, while it’s not something tasty anyway. Wasn’t too hard to rate as a crap for me. Otherwise I like any kind of chocolate beers!

Small bottle (0.25l? 0.33l?) from Vrutak, shared with heavy. Poured a nice hazy dark amber/brown body with a small slightly off white head that went away relatively fast. Odd chocolate in the nose mixed with something unidentifiable, fruity and flowery, definitely strange and hardly beer-like but not really offensive. The taste is more of the same, but better defined and I’m not sure if that’s a good thing. Odd chocolate, bubblegum, orange, perfumey. Hard to like really. Dunno. Damn hard to rate actually but not something I’d willingly try again soon.
