This is our classic American IPA. Hopped for flavor and balance in the kettle, and heavily dry hopped in the fermentor. Crisp, clean, and clear.

12oz can I picked up at Superstar Beverage. Pours a clear orange with some sudsy white head. Nose hits you at first with a lot of green hop pellet, some candy, a little faux orange, commercial honey, some herbs. Flavor is very sweet, malt, honey, the soap and pine come in but the sweetness sort of overwhelms. Lightly prickly, sweet finish. Eyes closed, not sure I would think this was an IPA.

Can from Valhalla’s Goat. Enjoyed on the train between Queen Street and Haymarket. Drank straight from the can, so I can’t comment on its appearance - I’ll just give it a 3/5... Aroma of tangy citrus, pink grapefruit, plastic and pine. Tastes much lighter than its 6.8% ABV suggests. Flavour of bitter sparkling water, sharp lime and blood orange. Thin to medium body with an oily texture. Soft carbonation. A true hop bomb - as close to ’hop juice’ as it gets. Lovely stuff.

Growler. Clear pale amber with a large white head that leaves rings of lace. Aroma of mandarin, grapefruit, peach, caramel, a little pine. Taste is sweet and fruity with peach and mandarin, slight tropical notes (mango), grapefruit. Soft, clean mouthfeel - very nice, and no sign at all of the 6.8%ABV. A bit on the plainly sweet side of things in the malt department, but the finish is pretty dry. Moderate bitterness, lingering citrus. Very gluggable. Straightforward and very nice indeed.

[10/11/13] Draught at Beer Temple in Amsterdam. Hazy deep golden. Lovely hoppy aroma with tropical fruits, citrus, pine and a bit of maltiness. Flavor has a bit of sweetish maltiness, a bit caramelly, nice piney and fruity hops and a mild to moderate bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Nice.

Tap at The Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Poured a hazy medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is rich fruity and hoppy. The flavour is medium bitter, lots of herby vegetable and liqourice on the slightly watery palate. A rather unusual IPA.

0.33l can. Lots of head on this one! The pour is dark deep orange, really cloudy in the glass and the big head is lasting, nicely lacing, almost fluffy and off-white in color. Nice fresh hoppy nose with lots of peachy fruitiness. Some citrus, mandarins and grapefruit with traces of vanilla and zesty yeast smells absolutely nice. It has definitely been used some hops in this beer. Lots of dark almost earthy grassy bitterness. Not as fruity as the aroma, more pine and woodwork. It has a good oily mouthfeel with a average carbonation level. A bit mineral earthy in a way. It's also slightly mouthdrying in the finish and aftertaste. Absolutely drinkable, but not a perfect score in the IPA table in my book. 01.06.2013
