Papegaei is a blond beer with an alcohol volume of 8%. The beer is lightly drinkable and has a rich bouquet of hops. Papegaei is brewed with fresh hop flowers, which means that the flowers are dried but not turned into an extract or pellets, so they keep their natural form (and taste!). The mash of Papegaei contains barley, wheat and oats. Papegaei is a top fermented beer with a second fermentation in the bottle. The beer is neither filtered nor pasteurized.

Botte 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Credited to "Brouwerij Verstraete". Pours golden with an off-white head leaving laces. Aroma of fruit and phenols. Solid body, again quite fruity, yeasty and phenollic. Discreetly bitter with some alcohol. Fairly straight. 230310

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is dry phenolic and dry malty. Sweet caramelish. Phenolic and slight fruity flavoured. Dry and mild spiced finish. Lingering fruity yeasty finish.

Bottle at Schraevenacker. Clear bright yellow, thin white head, moderate lacing. Aroma of grapefruit and white pepper. Taste has light citrus, malt and hay. Very drinkable.

Huge yellowish tinted head, over fully hazy dark-yellow beer with outspoken green sheen. Definitely sourish aroma, mixed with alcohol, lactic and sour pineapple, solvent. Very much solvent in the taste, yeast-dominated, but with some obvious autolysis and fatty acids. Nearly tart backthroat. Some astringency, medium bodied, slick, alcoholwarming. Ugh. Something went seriously wrong at some point. Deserves better.
