Papegaei is a blond beer with an alcohol volume of 8%. The beer is lightly drinkable and has a rich bouquet of hops. Papegaei is brewed with fresh hop flowers, which means that the flowers are dried but not turned into an extract or pellets, so they keep their natural form (and taste!). The mash of Papegaei contains barley, wheat and oats. Papegaei is a top fermented beer with a second fermentation in the bottle. The beer is neither filtered nor pasteurized.

Papegaei is brewed and bottled by Adam Verstraete at the Deca brewery in Woesten.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, golden colour with a blond medium-sized foamy head. Slightly yeasty and sweet malty aroma with fruity notes of pineapples and hints of citric sourness. Moderately sweet and slightly sour flavour, medium to light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Pale malt-character with moderately fruity notes and peppery and yeasty spice; almost dry and sour fruity finish with peppery spice and traces of herbal hops. Not overly demanding. 29.XI.10

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of straw, wheat, and a bit of citrus. The flavor is sweet with notes of wheat, yeast, alcohol, and fruit, leading to a dry, dusty, and fruity finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.
