American Style India Pale Ale. We used an American base malt with the addition of Caramalt to give this now classic style a redish hue. Mound Builder includes an aggressive use of Columbus hops, which is a high alpha hop with a full flavor profile, and Centennial hops. The beer is also dry-hopped with Amarillo hops, which is a citrusy hop with notes of orange and grapefruit. People’s Mound Builder IPA is a hoppy, yet smooth American twist on the English IPA

Bottle. Clear, deep amber body. Short, fizzy, off-white head, rapidly diminishing. Malty aroma with notes of bread and caramel. Hint of raw grain, grapefruit. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Lingering bitterness into the finish. Medium body, creamy texture, moderate carbonation. Thick, raw grain taste against the resiny bitterness. A bit unclean and far from crisp. It could have used a little more carbonation. But it has a nice balance.

On draught at Heorot in Muncie, IN. The beer is a hazy dark amber color with a medium foamy beige head that diminishes steadily. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Hoppy aroma that has piney and malty notes. Medium body with a somewhat astringent hops character that has resiny and piney qualities. Some sweet malt in the background. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness left behind. Decent IPA overall.
