American Style India Pale Ale. We used an American base malt with the addition of Caramalt to give this now classic style a redish hue. Mound Builder includes an aggressive use of Columbus hops, which is a high alpha hop with a full flavor profile, and Centennial hops. The beer is also dry-hopped with Amarillo hops, which is a citrusy hop with notes of orange and grapefruit. People’s Mound Builder IPA is a hoppy, yet smooth American twist on the English IPA

Draft at Chumley's in Lafayette. Caramel, toffee and pine aromas. Old malt on the palate with some cardboard flavors. Lots of sweet malt, cardboard and strong bitterness on the palate. More of the same on the finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Mound Builder IPA on 01 Dec 2019 at 19:08 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 5.5. Super hazy deep copper and amber coloured body with a nice, two centimetre tall off-white and tan coloured head. Aroma of grass, malt, citrus, pine and quite a bit of earthy and caramelised sugars. Medium-bodied; Assertive nutty and very earthy malt flavours up front with a defined caramel and toffee finish, showing some nice sweetness and fragrant hops. Aftertaste shows some juicy grassy and citrusey hops with some nice alpha acids and a touch of caramelised sugar and grain on the finish - quite strong. Overall, a nice and rich IPA with more of an East Coast feel showing some grain, alcohol and malt all the way around. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Binny’s Beverage Depot in Chicago (Downtown), Illinois on 25-May-2016 for US$1,67 sampled at home in Upstate (New Paltz), New York on 25-November-2016, exactly half a year later.

On tap. Off white head and amber color. A-grain with indescribable hops. (the nitro pour nose has a slight resin to it). T-hop bite-slight pine or resin, light/medium malt.

12 ounce can compliments of Trent!

A cloudy orange rusty look to it with a big head of creamy, vs, billowy foam. Great lacing.

The nose is big on grapefruit and pine. Somewhere, deep down, I get hints of some malt character.

Well, the malt showed up in the taste with a nice smooth bite(haha) of caramel. It goes beautifully with the aggressive pine and grapefruit. This *almost* tastes like a 2 or 3 year old Bigfoot. Don’t laugh.

The body here is pretty big; another resemblance to the beer I mentioned above.

Well, I’m pretty damned impressed with this IPA. Very damned impressed!

12 oz. can courtesy of queenholly. Dark brown amber color with thin soapy head. Deep amber color, thin soapy head. Flavor is mango, pineapple and pink grapefruit. Caramel is present but is really subdued. Bitterness lingers for a good duration after the sip. Trances of pine resin when warm. Meduim in body with proper amount of carbonation.

bottle - Pours lightly hazy copper with a small, off-white head. There’s a big grapefruit hop aroma as well as a big hop flavor with similar grapefruit. and a tasty malt balance. Very good IPA.
