Ardenne's Craft Beer, lightly dark, with beautiful shiny reflects. Differents from the classic dark ales, because of its mild character, and the small touch of citrus at the end.

75cl bottle shared between five @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, May 15, courtesy of myself. The surprise last beer of the night. Pours deep brown. Light malt aroma. Taste is rather weak with mild caramel and smooth malts. Perhaps my tastebuds were shot at this point.

Foam: average to large, frothy, good lacing, off-white to light beige which last long. Colour: opaque dark brown, against sun even dark red. Aroma: malt, candy sugar, fruity, yeast, fresh grass. Taste: semi-sweet with a hop bitterness, medium to full body, good carbonation, dark fruits, caramel taste, something in taste reminds me of Rochefort 6 or 8, plums, raisins, bitter hops dry finish, very nice liquid cake mixed together sweetness and bitterness, worth to taste it.

Tap at some Belgian Beer bar in Lyon: Pours brown with a white head. Aroma is fruit and sugar. Taste is rather sweet and rather malty. This ain’t the most complex BSA I ever had, but was pleasant.

The brown counterpart of Lupulus, but much harder to find (I got a few bottles at the brewery, unlabelled); seems to be a lot more commercialized since then, as I’ve seen it at several beer shops in the meantime. Off-white, creamy, sticky head over a very dark bronze beer with ruby hue. Aroma of toasted bread, dried fruits, orange peel, cocoa powder, spicy hops, liquorice. Candied fruits, rounded maltiness, caramelly, low carbo resulting in a somewhat ’flat’ mouthfeel, lightly toasted, grassy hops in the finish with a bit of sticky candi sweetness.

Keg at Six Deg North. It pours deep amber, brown with a small yellow-white head. The nose is cola, caramel, candy, dried fruits, raisin, fig and rinned fruit. The taste is caramel, cola, raisin, candied peel, cherry cola and mild spice with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not too shabby.

(Bottle, 0.75 l, BBE 12/2016, at Gastropub Tuulensuu, 20140609) The beer poured dark brown and cloudy. Its head was medium sized, white and it lasted long. Aroma had dark fruits, ripe pear, chocolate and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, dark fruits, soapy hops, fruitiness and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, spicy and bitter. A nice Belgian brew with a little bit unpleasant hoppiness.
