33 cl bottle @ home (6.5% according to label), aged a bit already. Very dark pour. Beige head with quite some retention. Aroma’s: smoky, molasses, light peat. Retronasal it’s light smoke, a bit toffee/caramel malt, dark sugar, light bitterness. Flavor is light sweet, smoky, light to moderate bitter. Body is between light and medium. Bitterness increases towards the finish.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Stas & Vova. Opened with a gusher, kept gushing almost until the bottle was empty. Dark brown with a huge frothy beige head. Yeasty aroma with roast, licorice, a bit of chocolate, dark fruits and smoky notes. Bitterish roasty flavor, with yeast, licorice, coffee and a bitter finish with a smoky note. Medium-bodied, really over-carbonated.

Draught at the brewpub in Amsterdam. Listening to noisy jazz. Opaque mahogany brown coloured pour with a lasting tan head and some sticky lace. Aroma is charred wood and malt extract, malt loaf and low dried fruits. Flavour is composed of nutty malts, charred brown bread and rauch malts. Palate is semi sweet, chalky carbonation. Sweet and malt forward beer, couldn’t drink a lot of this.

Bottled (from biernavigator). Very close to black colour with some slight ambery hints, huge beige head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is spices, some alcohol, salted liquorice and mild herbal notes. Flavour is mild smoked wood, some salted liquorice, toasted notes and some yeasty and spicy notes. There’s something slightly deranged with this, it’s a beauty in a way, but something lurks in there...

Black with full creamy mocca head. Lots of roasted grains and nuts with coffee, bitter chocolate, burnt bread, caramel, some unripe berries, red wine, ash, and lots of herbs. Light tart and bitter with long lasting finish. Medium bodied with full carbonation. Quite interesting and different, and it works quite well.
