500ml bottle, batch 808/818, bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Bubbly, brownish head with fine retention. Rich lacework to the glassware. Jet black body. Grainy chocolate nose with an oaky touch. Creamy chocolate up front to the taste profile added by notes of grain, vanilla and cocoa matched by a tart twist to the ending. Warming alcohol. Good, even though I had expected a little more (on a dark polar night at home in Tromsø 07.12.2012).

Half liter bottle from Oak Tree Buy Rite, S. Plainfield. Pours a clear dark brown color with a large frothy dark brown head. Good head retention. Roasted malt, chocolate, rye aroma with some fruitiness. The taste is strong rye, nuts, roast, honey, chocolate and a bitter finish. Medium bodied. Quite tasty.

Tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration, Day Two. Pours black with a creamy, beige head. Has quite a fruity nose, some ripe grapes and berries, moderate roast. Medium to big sweet flavor with plenty of chocolaty dark malts, burnt wood and a bit of whisky-like hard alcohol. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with restrained cocoa, some dark, dried fruits, bitter cocoa. It’s a nice beer and well-rounded, but just doesn’t have anything to push it into ’great’ territory.

Bottled at Bishops Arms Järntorget, Göteborg, during "Porterveckan 2012". Sold by 5 or 10 cl, I had 5. On November 25, 2012.Black color, brown head. Sweet, spicy, alcohol, a bit acidic scent. Spicy, malty, alcohol, metallic taste. Metallic aftertaste, also roasted. Smooth a bit ropey mouthfeel, medium bitterness.

Clear black body, reddish hue, tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, soy sauce, liquorice, coffee, hops and rough cacao. Sweetish flavour, rye, quite bitter and roasted malts. Quite creamy, full body, lasting bitter finish, hops and bitter coffee.
Another great beer by Nøgne Ø.
