(Draught at Pikkulintu, 20120804) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had roasted malts, liquorice and rye bread. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, hops, rye bread, molasses and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. Nice, balanced and alcohol was well hidden.

Copenhagen Beer Festival, May 2012. Black with a small off-white head. Malty aroma with chocolate, a fine touch of coffee and a fruity note. Sweet and full bodied dark malty flavour with lots of chocolate and a citrus hoppy finish

Medium dark brown head. Opaque black body. Alcoholic fruity banana aroma with licorice, earth and chocolate notes. Dry-sweet perfumy strawberry and banana taste with roasty chocolatey notes. Full-bodied. Mild, soft, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish-sweet roasty grainy fruity aftertaste with perfumy licorice notes. Nice. Scarily drinkable. Interesting and different, too. (0.5l bottle, Grünerløkka Bryghus, Oslo.)

This is a lovely and really great ale. And you can read a lot about it here. So I rather tell a funny story about it. I found this gem in Belgium. Brewed in Norway and travelled all the way down to The Belgians. But still half the price as in Norway!. Then it travelled through Luxembourg to Holland and Egmond Aam Zee where it ended it journey. Outstanding!

Medium brown-beige head over well-carbonated black beer. Ink, mocha, chocolate - both bitter and sweet. Then cheesy hops flaring up, as well as alcohol/fusels. Bitter, woody, hoppy and again lots of chocolate - probably chocolatemalt indeed. Something herbal playing, as basil after being heated. Feels well-carbonated, spritzy. Long, quite bitter-roasted aftertaste. Severe, but convincing porter.

Draught at Danske Ølentusiasters Ølfestival 2012, Copenhagen
Black color, with brown creamy head. Moderate aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, ass. Strong flavor of dark chocolate, but also a bit too much roasted malt, liquorice; salty finish; good body strength, and the mouthfeel is quite round thanks to some residual sweetness.
Good, not impressive.

Flaske 0,5l på Antikvariatet, Trondheim 14 Jun 12. Kullsort med et kjempehøyt mokkafarget skum. Betong. God sjokoladearoma. Oljeaktig konsistens. Godt integrerte smaker: Sjokolade & lakris. Litt tørr bitterhet etter hvert. Avslutter syrlig. Alkoholen merkes overhode ikke!

On tap at Henrik, Bergen. Pours a pitch black colour with a medium brown head. The aroma is dominated by a lot of coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malt. Sweet malt in the flavour along with chocolate and a touch of rye. Has a soft mouthfeel. Bitterness = medium+. A terrific and well-balanced porter.

On tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration.
Opaque black beer, little tan head. Softish palate, dry. Mild rye spice in the dark malt. A little minerals. Not much else to say, dry finish.
